Senior Principal Compliance

As Senior Principal Compliance, you will serve as the department’s compliance leader. You will coordinate closely with other members of the department, Legal and compliance leaders throughout the company to help build an umbrella function that will centrally organize and monitor the company’s compliance with laws, regulations, and other obligations. The role will also establish a coordinated process for executive and Board level reporting. 

The qualified candidate for this position will have experience in a corporate compliance function, ideally at a multinational company. Key qualifications for this role is an ability to work at the most senior levels within the company and in an ever changing, fast-paced environment.

Supervision Received: Reporting to Airbnb’s head of Global Risk and Internal Audit. 

Supervision Exercised:  No direct reports as of now but may eventually and will supervise consulting support. 

Travel for this role: None at present but may involve some limited travel if the need arises.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and lead the company’s central compliance function, focusing on integration with Legal, other compliance functions, and the company’s enterprise risk process.
• Build, develop, and maintain strong business relationships with stakeholders and serve as a trusted advisor that can help the businesses with compliance strategy and approach.
• Build a process to stay abreast of new or changes to compliance obligations applicable to the company.
• Develop and employ tools, frameworks, and reports that help with identifying, assessing, tracking, monitoring, reporting and auditing compliance obligations.
• Prepare materials for executives and the Audit Committee of the Board.
• Coordinate with other compliance personnel, functions or committees to minimize duplication of effort and ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
• Serve as the compliance leader to the department by providing insight and education for purposes of department wide planning and coordination.
• Manage consultant resources to ensure cohesive and collaborative execution.

Qualifications include:

• B.A. or B.S. or higher.
• Minimum of fourteen (14) years of experience, with most of the experience in a compliance capacity, preferably with several years at a multinational company.
• Previous experience as a key leader in a compliance capacity.
• Experience working closely with the Legal department.
• Experience working with executive level leaders.
• Consulting experience is a plus.
• Experience in a highly regulated industry is a plus.
• Experience working in a co-sourced department is a plus.
• Experience coordinating with Enterprise Risk and Internal Audit is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience developing and communicating approaches and results to senior levels of the organization is a must.
