Eaton’s Fluid Electrical Distribution division, a part of our Aerospace group, is currently seeking a Senior Product Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Camarillo, CA office ..or .. City of Industry, CA office. . Relocation is available for candidates currently located within the United States. Will consider remote work option for candidates residing in California with occasional auto travel to their designated facility. Position Overview: The Senior Product Engineer will lead project engineering work from initial scoping through implementation, and communicates expectations, plans, and requirement to stakeholders. They will coordinate all work within the scope of assigned projects and manages scope change working alongside project managers. The incumbent will take a leadership role in some or all of the following activities: internal research and development, new product development, sustaining engineering/ongoing production, product manufacturing transitions and cost out projects, new business proposals This role will be responsible for engineering activities supporting military/commercial electrical wiring systems and associated components, as well as mechanical hold down/release devices. In this function you will: Support design/analysis/sustaining engineering for Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems (EWIS) and related components used in aerospace, industrial, and military applications Work with global, cross functional teams and manufacturing locations to support production/product launch and transfers, which may involve manufacturing locations in the Americas, EMEA, and APAC Lead and/or support communication directly with customer engineering teams to progress engineering activities/change orders/product releases Manage product and document changes through Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), leveraging Eaton’s Product Lifecycle Management system (Enovia) Conduct and/or participate in technical reviews Provide technical support to customers, suppliers, internal manufacturing engineers, and internal sales and marketing teams. This includes leading engineering responsibilities for new and existing projects, assessing cost estimates (NRE), developing project schedules, developing design and instruction specifications, writing operating manuals, and authoring technical reports. Plan/specify product requirements, as well as detailed validation and verification plans working alongside a cross-functional team Participate and/or witness testing of products Coordinate the prototype manufacturing of products where applicable Conduct failure analysis examinations and prepares Failure Analysis Reports (FAR) of findings Represent product engineering during MRB reviews and responsible for hardware functionality assessments Manage product data in 3D CAD using SolidWorks and Enovia PLM Assess jurisdiction and classification of hardware and technical data in accordance with ITAR and EAR When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Materials Science from an accredited university Minimum three (3) years of experience in product engineering. Will consider qualified candidates that are interested in transitioning their career into Product Engineering. Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee. Preferred qualifications: Minimum of 5 or more years of experience in product engineering is desired. Product design experience in aviation, aerospace, and/or defense industries. Experience working with international product manufacturing teams. Position Criteria: Ability to interpret and generate 3D CAD models and drawings Knowledge of ECN/ECO (Engineering Change Order or Notification) processes for document change management Demonstrated understanding of ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing Structure, design, and authoring of compliance matrices and test plans/procedures/reports.
