Our mission: To empower every developer and every development team on the planet to build great software faster.
Are you a dev at heart? We’re PMs who build apps and talk code – join us! Millions of developers worldwide use our tools, languages, and services. Success for us means making those developers happy and productive.
We’re looking for creative problem-solvers to join our PM team. It doesn’t matter what your previous job titles have been – we expect that you’re comfortable with writing code, rapidly experimenting, partnering with internal teams to get things done, tackling ambiguous questions, and learning new skills. You’ll need the humility to be okay with ideas and projects that don’t pan out, and be able to learn from them. You’ll have the support of your team and active sponsorship from our executive team.
We write code and we’re part of Microsoft - but that doesn’t mean we automatically know what all developers need. That’s why we invest a lot of time in understanding what our customers are trying to accomplish, how they prefer to work, and which day-to-day challenges they’re facing.
Responsibilities
Here’s what you’ll do and learn to be successful in this role:
* You’ll need to understand what our customers and competitors are doing. We use a variety of approaches – and welcome your input on other creative methods.
* You’ll ask questions and combine data, research, and intuition to invent creative solutions for developer challenges. Sometimes that means adding features; often it means simplifying or streamlining an experience.
* You’ll experiment, test and refine, and be at ease with using data driven analysis. Not every idea works – data helps us see what needs refining and which ideas to pivot on.
* You’ll be an active learner and problem-solver, eager to work alongside internal developers, data analysts, researchers, and designers to get things done.
We move quickly – yes, even at Microsoft! – so you’ll help us push beyond ‘but we’ve always done it that way’ and ‘is that allowed?’ to ensure we can get the insights we need to build the best products. We work hard together through the work day, and we value having time for family or hobbies in the evenings.
