We, Azure Global team, have a great opportunity for you. Microsoft Azure is a strategic priority and focus of Microsoft's Cloud strategy. Azure Global team is part of Azure Engineering and focuses on in-bound product feedback born from hands-on customer engagements. The Azure Global team is expanding its Solution Architecture team and is looking for application architects with a strong background on HPC Applications. Azure Global works closely with customers on some of the largest and most interesting development projects for Microsoft. From these engagements, the team extracts patterns, issues and requirements that help drive positive change in our platform.   This is a great opportunity to have direct impact on Microsoft's Big Computing cloud offerings as well as our broader platform strategy. In this role, you will be a solution architect, leading engagements and projects. You will be working across the entire portfolio of core Azure and will have license to leverage technologies from the broader community regardless of language or platform. This is your opportunity to be part of a small but growing team that is making a huge impact to Microsoft's cloud computing platform. Local travel would be 10% and require ability to work remote. 

 

The Azure Global HPC team is looking for a highly motivated HPC Architect to work closely with our Public Sector customers and partners. We are looking for a senior HPC Architect who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and lean in with the customer.

Responsibilities

Azure Global HPC Architects are expected to be hands-on technical experts, capable of directly implementing proof of concept HPC solutions to the architectures they derive with customers after exploring their requirements. Your insights from these customer engagements will influence future product releases. You will be required to present technical challenges, solutions, and guidance to audiences including senior customer technical and business decision makers, executives, conference attendees, and internal engineering leadership.

The candidate should possess strong architectural knowledge building solutions on top of a Cloud platform, combined with great relationship skills to be successful in this exciting role. As a member of the Azure Global HPC team, you will be responsible for extending the reach of engineering product teams across North America. You will help product teams understand and prioritize customer feedback for the improvement of products and services based on the customer projects you will be delivering.

Qualifications

Required Skills:    

  1. 7+ years of application development experience including HPC projects, preferably with a mix of customer facing delivering solution architecture; technical lead; or developer roles.
  2. HPC industry expertise working with government IT projects and teams.
  3. Experience with critical HPC applications like Abaqus, Ansys, Fluent, StarCCM+, WRF, Quantum Espresso, LINPACK, etc.
  4. Experience with performance benchmarks of HPC applications and e2e workloads.
  5. Demonstrated ability to engage with customers and partners to understand their business needs and priorities.
  6. Strong project management and execution skills.  

Desired Skills: 

  1. Experience with large scale storage technologies like Lustre, NetApp.
  2. HPC industry expertise working with government IT projects and teams.
  3. Experience with Remote Visualization technologies like RDS, VDI (Horizon View, Citrix etc).
  4. Experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, Rackspace, & GCE is highly desired.  

 

 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements
  • Candidates must have an active TS and be willing to upgrade to TS/SCI (with polygraph) or have an active TS/SCI and be willing to upgrade to TS/SCI (with polygraph). This role will require candidates to maintain the TS/SCI (with polygraph) clearance
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
