Job Description

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a Senior Security Program Manager with the Datacenter Physical Security team (DCPS), you will perform a key role in delivering on strategic and tactical activities to ensure the physical security of Microsoft critical infrastructure facilities worldwide.  Your work will help secure the core infrastructure for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform.

As a Senior Security Program Manager, you will work directly with numerous internal and external teams supporting numerous physical security programs including risk assessment, site selection and venture integration.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and quantify (using established processes and procedures) physical security issues at proposed critical infrastructure sites. Participate in the collaborative process of selecting the most appropriate existing datacenter facility or brownfield/greenfield site upon which to build or lease as required.
  • Identify, evaluate, and quantify (using established processes and procedures) physical security issues at datacenters acquired through acquisition or other business ventures. Drive the processes to ensure physical security measures at newly acquired facilities are identified and appropriately remediated in accordance with minimum physical security baseline requirements.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for datacenter physical security supporting high visibility needs of the business in a variety of special projects. These unique projects often involve expedited deliverables, operational agility, and require top quality deliverables covering both the consulting and operations functions.
  • Conduct and support physical security threat/risk assessments (using established processes and methodologies) at new and existing sites to ensure evolving threats and conditions remain appropriately addressed by the physical security program as deployed/operated.
  • Contribute new content and expertise to the continuing evolution of existing physical security processes and procedures that produces valid trustworthy results, supports the goals of the business, and removes as many subjective elements as possible.

Qualifications

Competencies:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required for preparing clear, concise and grammatically correct materials and communicating information effectively to others.

  • Action oriented with a passion for getting things done quickly, efficiently, and properly.
  • Strong cross-group collaboration and relationship management skills including creating, directing, participating, supporting, and/or coordinating virtual teams to achieve deliverables.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the physical security discipline, focusing on consulting and operations areas.
  • Ability to develop, and maintain security related processes, procedures, program baselines, training, and improvement plans.
  • Ability to document and improve work processes in order to make workflow more efficient and productive.
  • Ability to contribute to other pillars of the Physical Security program including consulting, operations, and program support by active collaboration, feedback, and support.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance while being a team player able to effectively manage a demanding workload across geographic and organizational boundaries.

Basic Qualification

  • 5+ years of experience successfully managing security programs in a corporate, law enforcement or government operations program role.
  • Willingness to travel frequently in both planned and unplanned scenarios.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience as a security advisor in corporate, public or private security.
  • Experience with datacenters or other critical infrastructure facilities preferred.
  • Industry security certification such as CPP highly desirable.
  • Experience with or exposure to regulatory and industry compliance frameworks and audits (e.g. ISO27001, PCI, HIPAA, SOC, FedRAMP).
  • Experience providing risk/threat assessments at the strategic and tactical level, demonstrating critical thinking and exceptional judgement in information analysis and problem solving.
  • BS or BA in security or related discipline, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Experience with third-party contracts and statements of work related to physical security.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
