Eaton’s Aerospace Group, Interconnect Technology Division (ITD) is currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Camarillo, CA facility or our City of Industry, CA facility. Position Overview: The Senior Project Engineer leads some or all the following activities: Participate in Internal research and development, new product development, sustaining engineering/ongoing production, product manufacturing transitions and cost out projects, new business proposals. He/she supports project engineering work from initial scoping through implementation, and communicates expectations, plans, and requirement to stakeholders. He/she coordinates all work within the scope of assigned projects. This role will be responsible for engineering activities supporting military/commercial electrical wiring systems and associated components, as well as mechanical hold down/release devices. In this role, you will: Support design/analysis/sustaining engineering for electrical wiring interconnect systems (EWIS) and related components used in aerospace, industrial, and military applications. Works with global, cross functional teams and manufacturing locations to support production/product launch and transfers. This includes manufacturing locations in the Americas, EMEA, and APAC. Supports program management with schedule and cost Leads or supports communication directly with customer engineering teams to progress engineering activities/change orders/product releases. Initiate’s product and document changes through Engineering Change Orders, leveraging Eaton’s Product Lifecycle Management system (Enovia). Supports and/or participates in technical reviews (PDR, CDR, FMEA, SAR, TAR, etc.). Provides technical support to customers, suppliers, internal manufacturing engineers, and internal sales and marketing teams. This includes leading engineering responsibilities for new and existing projects, assessing cost estimates (NRE), developing project schedules, developing design and instruction specifications, writing operating manuals, and authoring technical reports. Assesses product requirements, as well as creates detailed validation and verification plans working alongside a cross-functional team. Participates and/or witnesses testing of products. Coordinates the prototype manufacturing of products where applicable. Supports failure analysis examinations and prepares Failure Analysis Reports (FAR) of findings. Assists Sr. product engineers during MRB reviews and responsible for hardware functionality assessments. Manages product data in 3D CAD using SolidWorks and Enovia PLM. Assists in assessment of jurisdiction and classification of hardware and technical data in accordance with ITAR and EAR. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or similar engineering field from an accredited institution. Minimum 3 years of project engineering / management experience required. This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship. No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates who currently reside within a 50-mile radius of the Camarillo, CA facility or the City of Industry facility will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. Preferred Qualifications: Ability to interpret and generate 3D CAD models and drawings. Knowledge of ECN/ECO (Engineering Change Order or Notification) processes for document change management. Ability to complete basic engineering calculations for sizing and design of mechanical components. Demonstrated understanding of ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Proficiency in Product Data Management or Product Life-Cycle Management (PDM/PLM) systems for document control and workflow management. Structure, design, and authoring of compliance matrices and test plans/procedures/reports. Ability to interpret Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to understand loading and failure modes of mechanical components. Master’s Degree Additional Certifications: Lean 6-sigma methods preferred, including Design for Six Sigma (DFSS/SSDD) Green Belt or Black Belt, or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification. General awareness/knowledge of aircraft Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems (EWIS). Design knowledge of interconnect components (connectors, back shells, wiring assemblies) for aviation, aerospace, and industrial markets. Strong knowledge of materials science for metals, polymers, ceramics, and glass and graphite composites. Strong knowledge of materials science for conductive/corrosion inhibiting coatings. Experience using Enovia Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) software. Experience supporting product launches in Low-Cost Country/Best Cost Country (LCC/BCC) locations (ex. Mexico, China, Morocco, Dominican Republic) Experience in product launches in US manufacturing locations for ITAR/EAR 600 series products. Experience authoring/managing Engineering Coordination Memos (ECM’s) with customers to track and manage technical decisions during projects. The expected annual salary range for this role is $100,000 - $138,000. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only.
