This position leads and manages projects in support of business and operations strategies and is responsible for all phases of a project including business case justification, project initiation, sanctioning, planning, execution and closure. Project responsibilities also include project team management, stakeholder management and project communications. The scope of work often includes projects or programs that are multifunctional in support of the flu franchise.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and support multiple cross functional and enterprise project teams.
- Management and execution of all elements of delivering projects (scope definition & control, stakeholder alignment, project planning, resource &risk management, project leadership, team development and communication) including development of project plans and timelines via established project management tools. Successful Project Management includes guiding enterprise activities to meet objectives and approval of project recommendations through governance.
- Identify and recommend the best business proposition, develop a project plan, and then deliver the project plan to achieve business results. This includes; early identification of issues and opportunities, developing and delivering viable alternatives and contingency plans, engaging teams in healthy debate/conflict, the communication of risk and development of proposed mitigation plans.
- Monitor project status /execution. Identify, communicate and help resolve key issues. Provide ongoing status communications to the team and appropriate levels of the organization. Drive team accountability for deliverables and ensure projects meet milestones.
- Lead "lessons learned" exercises, share lessons among project leaders and other teams integrate lessons into existing processes, tools and templates.
- Develop agendas, minutes, metrics, etc. for the teams.
- Make timely updates to Project Templates, Project Dashboards, &Update Forms. Exhibit strong facilitation skills to drive the team to deliver results/conclusions, manage conflicts and deliver solutions.
- Lead prioritization exercises with teams.
- Escalate risks and issues to relevant stakeholders; lead delivery of tactical and achievable mitigation &contingency planning.
- Utilization of tools to identify, manage, and communicate processes and risks.
- Timely and effective verbal and written communication to teams and to stakeholders.
- Responsible for training of site project teams and leaders on project management tools and governance processes.
- Mentor Project Leaders/Sponsors on the project management process.
- Management of project artifacts archival.
- Conduct activities and interactions consistent with Company values and in compliance with the Code of Conduct and supporting Policies and Standards relevant to your role. Complete all required training on the AZ Code of Conduct and supporting Policies and Standards on time. Report potential issues of non-compliance.
- Ensure and monitor compliance by team members and third parties by (a) positively reinforcing the Code of Conduct and all relevant AstraZeneca Policies and Standards, (b) ensuring completion of all required training, (c) fostering a culture of openness in which employees are comfortable raising questions or concerns, and (d) immediately addressing and reporting, as appropriate, instances of non-compliance.
- Manager Accountabilities at AstraZeneca include Ethical Conduct and Compliance, Team Management, Performance Management, Individual Development Planning, Talent Management, Recruitment, People information, SHE accountabilities, and Fiscal and Financial awareness.
- Leaders with accountability for GXP areas are expected to understand the legal and regulatory requirements of their roles in providing appropriate resources (which could be human, financial, material, facilities, and equipment) to maintain the Quality system and continually improve its effectiveness.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of five (5) years applicable project management experience.
- Minimum of seven (7) years industry experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
- Extremely detail-oriented.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be assertive, but also able to work in a collaborative environment with a proven ability to influence senior management.
- Must be able to influence inter-departmental project activities with tact and persuasion.
- Must be able to support multiple project team activities, understanding the links and conflicts between teams, and recommending appropriate actions to improve project integration.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Sciences, Engineering, Business or a related discipline.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, MBA, and/or Six Sigma certification.
