This specific role is tightly focused on delivering solutions to Justice and Public Safety customers around the world. The Services Project Manager (PjM) will be instrumental in delivering solutions to these customers from the presales process all the way through project closure. It is critical that the PjM understand the specific missions and goals of these unique customers.
The Services Project Manager (PjM) is responsible for engagement execution within a formal Statement of Work (SOW) to drive predictable behaviors in terms of project process and outcomes (accomplished on time, on budget, and according to customer specifications). The Services Project Manager supports the Account Delivery Executive (ADE) in the areas of delivery engagement quality and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Delivers engagements within the constraints of schedule, features/functionality, and budget.
- Manages the work that must be done to deliver an integrated solution usually composed of products, services, or a formalized solution offering
- Establishes a strategy of continuous risk management that enables proactive decisions and actions throughout the project life cycle and create an environment to support it where the project team has visible, measurable, and repeatable processes for managing these risks
- Executes established (as mutually agreed to) policies and procedures for the project, e.g. quality assurance, team reference guide, communication plan, and setting up the environment.
- Manages (as mutually agreed) Microsoft resources, partners and/or customer resources and materials (equipment, supplies, stock, or consumable/perishable items) used to complete tasks in a project.
- Maintains the Master Project Plan to include at least: Communication Plan (communications within the team and between the team and external entities) and the Team Reference Guide Plan (identifies team and external team members). In addition, maintains the Master Project Schedule.
- Stays current and involved in collecting conditions of the project relative to resources (people and optionally funding/cost), schedule (time), and features (the solution and its quality) as specified by the established project protocol. In addition, performs the process of comparing actual performance with planned performance, analyze variances, evaluate possible alternatives and take appropriate corrective action (control) as specified by the established project protocol.
- Collects, reviews and publishes project status with regard to resources (people and optionally funding/cost), schedule (time), stakeholder management, and features (the solution and its quality) that influence project performance and completion.
- Follows the principles of the Microsoft Solutions Framework (MSF), the Microsoft Operations Framework (MOF) and the current Services methodology (MSDM) in project delivery
Business Initiation: Review and provide guidance on customer change requests as they apply to scope of delivery. Manage subject matter experts to ensure services delivery is aligned with customer needs and minimizes risk to Microsoft.
Business Planning: Determine appropriate life-cycle approach for services delivery, as well as define appropriate Services Delivery Team profile. Assist in defining customer and Services Delivery team responsibilities. Demonstrate keen awareness on inter-dependencies of complex deliverables and their impact to the overall delivery plan.
Business Implementation: Execute within an effective course of action and solution approach to deliver within existing contractual constraints and policies. Recommend and drive appropriate professional services delivery strategies to address customer needs. Support the initiation of the engagement with appropriate stakeholder participation. Support the Conditions of Satisfaction (COS) set forth in the engagement.
Business Monitoring & Controlling: Achieve utilization by day to day management of the Services Delivery Team. Drive high satisfaction from stakeholders by improving and optimizing delivery status communications. Drive operational proficiency by ensuring accurate resource time and expense entry. Evaluate resource performance and provide ongoing assessment of the delivery. Apply appropriate performance measurements to ensure project schedule is maintained.
Business Closing: Share delivery execution performance (variation from the plan, customer feedback) with overall services community. From delivery performance data, provide suggestions on improvements to offerings and delivery processes.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of IT project management experience, with diverse technology solutions
- Direct experience with at least one of the following:
- Law Enforcement or Public Safety
- Court
- Corrections
- Defense
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (B.S./B.A.) or at least 4 years of equivalent work experience.
Professional Training and Certification:
Project Management fundamentals (e.g. PMI or equivalent preferred)
Location/Travel: You will be based in the Chicago, IL and you can expect travel to be 25 - 75%, based on the needs of the business.
