Job Description

The CHIE Cloud Hardware Experience Engineering (CHEE) team is looking for a senior industry professional with a proven track record of success who understands the importance, high standards, and processes required for optimum availability and serviceability of cloud server hardware within the worldwide Microsoft Fleet, particularly as they apply to qualification of new commodities. Ensuring that technical or policy changes deliver to and beyond expectations and never take anything away from an outstanding external customer experience with Microsoft cloud services – our customer obsession -- is priority 1a.  

Responsibilities

The successful candidate for this role will have a visible lead position for identifying / driving process improvement opportunities as well as driving impactful changes. Are *you* up for this exciting and meaningful challenge with the World Technology Leader?

 

Primary responsibilities include:

 

Plan, coordinate and drive effective and efficient CHIE (Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering) hardware, commodity firmware update, and building block qualification efforts on behalf of Azure EGs, CO+I, CHEE, and CHPE qualification teams.

 

Work with Azure EGs, CO+I, CHEE, and CHPE qualification teams to ensure timely, comprehensive external supplier test run requests.

 

Report both summary and detailed status on the CHEE qualification pipeline – schedule, timing, backlog, in-progress testing, interim and final test results, challenges, outlook – during weekly Sustaining and Commodity Ship Rooms as appropriate.

 

Design, plan and implement process engineering solutions into CSI hardware qualification to stabilize and accelerate qualification efforts.

 

Demonstrated leadership in the identification, actioning, and impactful closure of efficiency and effectiveness improvements necessary to meet/exceed committed Objectives and Key Results (OKRs)

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent relevant discipline

 

5 years of hardware program management experience that includes planning, development, and execution of change development and datacenter implementation.

 

Blue-water experience in hardware or software design, sustaining engineering, reliability testing and analysis, industry-accepted quality precepts will help set you apart from the field.

 

Demonstrated ability for data collection, manipulation, interpretation, and presentation.

Demonstrable capabilities for 1) strategic thinking, 2) communicating transparently, effectively, and persuasively across a wide range of technical and non-technical audiences, and 3) tracking work actions, progress, and appropriate contingencies thoroughly and on a timely basis.

 

Proven success in the management of complex, cross-disciplinary projects.

 

Demonstrated capabilities in providing clarity, creating energy, and being impactful on a day-to-day basis.
