Eaton’s Vehicle Group is currently seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join our team at the Kings Mountain, NC facility - and relocation services are available! The Senior Quality Engineer will direct and support the day-to-day quality function in the manufacturing / machining processes of a heavy-duty truck transmission facility. This role champions the Eaton Quality Management System (EQMS) and the Eaton Business System (EBS) as the “voice of the customer” for the facility. The driving focus will be on developing, implementing, and maintaining process controls which meet/exceed customer requirements, and supporting internal quality performance, continuous improvement, and DPPM reduction in the assigned area. Essential Functions: You will develop and implement corrective actions using SPC data, 8D, 5 Why, A3 and other Lean and root cause analysis tools to support initiatives around the improvement of FPY (First Pass Yield), reduction of internal and external Customer Complaints, rework & scrap. You will understand and interpret customer requirements, to include new product launch; execute PPAP & APQP (Control plans, PFMEAs, MSAs, GR&R, etc.) activities in accordance to EQMS / IATF16949 Standards. You will develop internal product validation/inspection methods to ensure process Quality consistency. You will monitor CTQ trends and lead efforts to keep processes in control. Develop capability analysis for machine moves, new machines, etc. You will lead customer focus activities including customer site visits and various Quality System Audits and Assessments (Layered Process Audits, Dock Audits, IATF Audits, EQMS Audits). You will support the Manufacturing Operations Flow Line Teams by providing Quality expertise and product disposition; work to eliminate roadblocks and communication barriers across the team that may affect quality and customer requirements. You will drive a continuous improvement culture by participating and leading Continuous Improvement (CI) activities including Value Stream Mapping, 5S+, Standard Work creation, Set-up reduction, 3P, Rapid Improvement Events, and other EBS Tools. You will manage Change Control within assigned area. You will train employees in quality tools: SPC (Infinity QS), Root Cause Analysis, Gaging Methods, etc. You will manage a team of Quality Technicians, including time card approval, performance management, development, hiring, and resolving issues and conflict. You will interact with and communicate with internal and external Suppliers and Customers as needed. You will fill in as back-up support at various levels of the Quality team and perform other duties as assigned and as needed. A minimum of 3 years of direct Quality Engineering experience. A minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship, on an ongoing basis. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with the following is helpful: APQP, PPAP, SPC (Infinity / Minitab), MSA, Lean Methodology, MS Office, GD&T, Problem Solving, DOE, IATF16949 Previous Manager of People experience. Able to work independently & complete tasks with minimal supervision.
