Job Description

Eaton’s Hydraulics Division is currently seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Brooklyn, OH facility.

The Senior Quality Engineer will lead and implement plant internal and external process Quality activities and improvements following Eaton standard processes and in compliance with ISO and Eaton Business System (EBS) requirements. This position is responsible for the analysis and measurement of supplier performance, defining and accessing the level of quality and capabilities of a supplier, and working with the supplier on supplier development opportunities.  The role supports and participates in Continuous Improvement (Lean) and Cost Out initiatives.

In this function you will:

  • Ensure compliance to ISO/EQS (Eaton Quality System) and lead efforts to continually improve how it is applied throughout the facility.
  • Organize and lead the plant MRB functions, support team by reading and interpreting engineering prints, engineering specifications, and utilization of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Drive efforts to reduce scrap and non-conformances.  Monitor and trend non-conforming data and review/share with operators, staff and others. 
  • Provide and post as necessary (Daily, monthly, Weekly) key plant data such as MRB Health, DPPM Non-Conforming and CPAR Status.
  • Drive plant wide CPAR activities (8D, A3 and other methods).
  • Lead APQP activities for Suppliers. Owns and manages the PPAP process for the facility.
  • Drive plant preventative actions (PFMEA, Control Plans and MSA) Support the plant in the development of key process PFMEA’s and Control Plans.  Support manufacturing by performing Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) in order to identify and eliminate measurement errors and ensure the correct gages are being employed throughout the plant.
  • Support utilization of the WISPER supplier management intranet site as it relates to receiving inspection. Assist in the definition and guidance of supplier development activities to ensure suppliers are meeting or exceeding expectations.

Eaton has announced it has reached an agreement to sell its Hydraulics Business to Danfoss A/S. This transaction is expected to be completed by the end of Q2 in 2021 and this position is expected to remain with the Hydraulics Business and would transfer to Danfoss A/S. upon close.  The compensation and benefits that will initially be offered for this position are based on Eaton’s plans, programs and practices.  If you are offered and accept this position and are actively employed by the Hydraulics Business when the transaction closes, Danfoss A/S will provide further details to employees concerning compensation and benefits at that time.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a quality function within a manufacturing environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship both now and in the future.
  • This position requires the use of information or access to technology which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR/EAR. ITAR/EAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates who currently reside within 50 miles of the Brooklyn, OH facility will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASQ Certification (CQE, CQA, CQM, etc…)
  • Requires knowledge of quality methods and systems and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience in deploying Lean/Continuous Improvement in a high mix, low volume environment is preferred
  • Strong background in utilizing PFMEA and Control Plan for process improvements is preferred
