Eaton’s Arecibo PR is currently seeking for an Senior Quality Engineer to join our team.
Provide support to Arecibo manufacturing operation for Molding, Punch Press parts and Plating areas. This includes manufacturing process establishment/control, day-to-day support to common and unusual situation, corrective actions to DMR received from customers, cost studies, safety assessment, quality controls implementations ( PFMEA, Control Plans & Pre-Controls) , data Collection on TDM (Test Data Management) or FAS (Final Audit System), and continuous Improvements Initiatives on the Products or Manufacturing process. Define, coordinates, lead and execute projects to improve quality, reduce scrap, reduce DPPMs, increase capacity and improve safety. Use A’3 documents to record progress of the project.Define and lead process improvement projects in order to improve plant’s indicators (DPPM, Warranty, LPA and Scrap & CONC). Oversee in overall the High 5 metrics.
Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day support to Feeders parts used in the Haina manufacturing operation/processes.
- Develop, evaluates manufacturing Improvements processes to provide feedback to Arecibo based on the findings from Inspection processes or Customer findings.
- Support on the analysis and plan work force utilization, space requirements and work process flow for Arecibo evaluation of the production line.
- Designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency of Quality laboratories.
- Generates, review, update and develop Standard Work Instructions, Visual Aids and MIL's.
- Scrap evaluation and disposition of Feeders’ operations.
- Train and certify manufacturing operators & inspectors on the workstation assigned.
- Develop & update Visual Aids identified from the Lessons Learned from Haina parts evaluation.
- Support on the changes via MCO or ECO process integration/implementation.
- Analyzes and perform manufacturing parts Integration Process via PPAP processes.
- Provide guidance for the proper selection of inspection of equipment and tools.
- Prepare Capital budget for inspection equipment, Standards, gages, fixtures. Justify, manage and implement capital projects including appropriation generation, establish requirements, getting quotes, placing orders, monitor/reports progress and ensure the completion of projects.
- Create, design & buy special tools for new parts.
- Keep the 5+ standards requirements in the Quality labs, QDA’s (none conforming areas) and office areas.
- Responsible for sponsor and participate on Lean / Kaizen Events in the manufacturing area.
- Monitor manufacturing processes/performance and provide/implement corrective actions using Problem Solving tools on issues reported by customers.
- Analyze equipment/processes using Six Sigma tools in order to identify and implements improvements (e.g. MSA).
- Responsible of cost savings program within the line or manufacturing area assigned (scrap).
- Perform safety analysis, safety inspections and remediation projects in coordination with the MESH department for the production operations specially but not limited to the Punch Press area.
- Promote and promulgate all MESH Process and Policies to all the employees under his/her supervision and ensure that they are being performed at his/her area.
- Participate in accidents investigation (EH&S) assigned on EHS Alerts.
- Evaluate and select new technologies/equipment to improve quality, performance and safety.
- Manage and generates Job Safety Analysis (JSA) of manufacturing processes.
- Answer CAPA's (8D’S) in a timely manner (Take Containment, Corrective & Preventive actions, Root cause, action plans, etc.).
- Complete the Internal and External Audits performed to the department (ISO, EQMS, MESH, etc..).
- Supervise the Quality Technicians and Inspectors of the area assigned to Feeders Operations.
- Must complete Payroll and coordinate and approve vacations of direct reports.
- Improve reporting or data collection.
- Make assessment on Nonconforming material at the QDA locations.
- Develop new processes control for Warranty Returns.
- Evaluate material deviations / TCR (Temporary Changes Request) with production breaker line at Arecibo.
- Provide alternatives to rework material with outside vendors at Arecibo.
- Provide feedback to the Arecibo team for conditions detected at the location that need changes or corrective action. Formalize the notification using CAPA, CQM or DMR.
- Evaluation and approval of PPAP submitted from Suppliers or internally from Feeders.
- Evaluate Punch Press material rejection and work with PLS (Arecibo and Haina) to determine if the claim is a critical characteristic and the functional effect.
- Prioritizes, considers alternatives, and responds quickly and effectively to unexpected and rapidly changing conditions.
- Developing, evaluating and improving manufacturing methods and processes to reduce scrap and reduce warranty DPPM.
- Analyzing and planning work force utilization.
- Development and implementation of manufacturing instructions.
- Perform new production parts integrations.
- Provide guidance for the proper selection of manufacturing equipment and tools.

Qualifications
Senior Quality Engineer Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Mechanical ,Electrical or Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in process control, ISO 9001, PPAP, Statistical Control study, troubleshooting and determination of root cause.
