[Initial appointment period: 16 months]

Project Title: Coupled material point method and discrete element method modeling for debris flows

Responsibilities:

• Compile MPM-DEM program for fully saturated flow problems;
• Calibrate and verify the proposed MPM-DEM for other geotechnical problems;
• Develop the hydro-mechanical MPM-DEM to study partially saturated soils;
• Prepare report writing based on the data collected; and
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator or his/her delegates.

Requirements:

• Have a master degree or above in civil engineering/computer science or equivalent qualifications and experience;
• Proficiency in Julia/C++/Python; and
• Knowledge of material point method will be an advantage.
