Key Responsibilities/职位描述

  • Manage R&D projects (from scoping and design phase to handover for further deployment) within the microbial risk management research program including but not limited to applications of bioinformatics and whole genomic sequencing enabled technologies.
  • Ensure compliance with the research governance process and knowledge management practices (e.g. charters, project initiation forms (PIFs)) and providing metrics to measure and report on the progress of research projects.
  • Ensure excellence in R&D project management in activities he/she leads from design to handover.
  • Deliver Design of Experiment (DoE) and the research plan through work conducted within Mars owned facilities and in collaboration with external academic institutes.
  • Ensure continuous development of core food safety research competencies. Acting as a subject matter expert of bioinformatics, contribute to establishment, implementation, and maintenance of bioinformatic data analysis platforms.
  • Proactively investigate and recommend new technologies to support innovation projects at the Mars GFSC.
  • Train and develop research scientists and laboratory scientists in advanced instrumental analysis.
  • Deliver food safety related training for internal and external participants in partnership with the Mars GFSC Communication, Training and External Engagement team.
  • Act as an ambassador for the Mars GFSC in microbial risk management. Share knowledge by attending and presenting at appropriate global conferences, symposia, writing peer-reviewed scientific publications in line with the aligned research strategy and contributing to GFSC training courses.
  • Manage external network and collaborate with laboratory scientists and technologists to ensure delivery of research goals in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure knowledge is appropriately captured from all relevant sources including conferences, horizon scanning, and other sources of intelligence and shared. Ensure insights are used to inform future direction of the research plan.
  • Contribute to research and Mars GFSC team engagement and high-performance collaboration.

 

Qualifications/任职条件

Education & Professional Qualifications     

  • A PhD in Life Science, Food Science, or similar discipline is required.
  • Proven ability to translate science insights and business needs into relevant research projects with clear business goals and delivery milestones.
  • Proven record of publishing work in peer-reviewed scientific publications and delivering technical presentations.
  • Excellent oral and written English skills.

Knowledge / Experience       

  • A minimum of three years’ experience managing multi-dimensional research projects.
  • Five years' experience of working within an industry or research laboratory.
  • In-depth knowledge in various aspects of biology, such as microbiology, molecular biology, bioinformatics.
  • Experience of working with food materials is essential.
  • Knowledge of the latest technologies used to detect and identify food borne pathogens is preferred.
  • Proven ability to build effective networks and collaborate effectively.
  • External engagement experience and presenting at conferences is desirable.
