The opportunity:

Our Finance and Actuarial (F&A) team is currently looking for a Senior Risk Manager. The purpose of this role is to assist the Head of Tax and Finance Risk with leading and managing the Line 1 risk function for F&A. The role will be effective through the development of trusted adviser relationships across all levels of F&A, including the leadership team, to ensure that its operational, business and conduct risks are managed effectively.

As a Senior Risk Manager, you’ll work proactively alongside F&A and the wider business to provide advice and support to ensure that our risks are understood, documented and managed effectively.

About the role:

  • Lead and manage the development, implemention and monitoring of the risk and control framework, key risk metrics, risk policies and governance activities.

  • Provide advice and guidance to assist F&A with managing its end to end financial reporting processes and controls.

  • Identify control and productivity improvements through the generation, assessment and implementation of new ideas.

  • Lead and manage control assurance programs and attestation activities to ensure all statutory, regulatory and policy requirements are met. This includes being the AIA NZ Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) Champion.

  • Oversee and report on policy adoption, implementation and on-going review requirements for F&A.

  • Ensure F&A meets its Business Continuity Management (BCM) requirements.

  • Provide advice and guidance to assist F&A with managing its model risk.

  • Provide advice and guidance to assist F&A with identifying and managing delivered risk arising from projects and initiatives.

  • Identify and assess emerging risks that impact F&A’s risk profile.

  • Support and manage the identification, assessment and resolution of issues and incidents.

  • Provide insightful and accurate risk reporting to the leadership team, forums and committees.

  • Monitor external audit issues to ensure completion of required actions by agreed dates.

  • Manage the coordination of internal audit reviews involving F&A.

  • Undertake reviews and/or deep dives where required and provide insightful analysis and recommendations to mitigate any risk exposures.

  • Promote a strong risk and conduct culture within F&A.

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders within F&A, the risk community, the wider business and with AIA Group counterparts.

  • Assist with the supervision and development of Line 1 risk team members.

About you:

You’ll ideally have a finance and risk management background, with demonstrated ability to navigate complexity in a fast-paced environment. With your knowledge and relationship management experience, you’ll have a knack for negotiation and influencing that will allow you to work with stakeholders to find solutions that meet business requirements.

Role Related Experience

  • 5+ years of finance risk management experience, ideally in the financial services industry.

  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders.

  • Experience with working with senior leaders.

  • Experience with people management and coaching.

Qualifications

  • High quality tertiary qualification in a related business discipline.
