Department of Chemistry

With offers of BSc (Hons) in Chemistry, BSc (Hons) in Analytical and Testing Sciences, MSc in Analytical Chemistry, MPhil (by research), and PhD degrees, the Department presently has around 190 undergraduate students, 60 taught postgraduate students and 50 research students and project staff.

The Department places a strong emphasis on both quality education and scholarly research/services, and has reached a significant milestone where its educational programmes are not only innovative but also accessible, and its major areas of research strength are well recognised and supported. It invites applications for the position of Senior Scientific Officer / Scientific Officer in the following area:

The appointee will perform the role as a Laboratory Manager in establishing and leading an ISO15189 medical testing laboratory. He/She will also assist in developing new teaching courses of medical testing related areas.

Applicants should possess a Master’s/PhD degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Science, Medical Science or equivalent. 10 years of solid work experience in ISO15189 accredited medical testing industry is expected. Registered Medical Laboratory Technologist (Part I) holder is a must. Applicants with less experience will be considered for the position of Scientific Officer.

Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
