What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. The Cardio-metabolic Disease therapeutic area within Discovery Research at Amgen is seeking to recruit a Sr. Scientist that is highly motivated and with a track record of experience in identifying, selecting, validating, and advancing drug targets to treat cardio-metabolic diseases, heart failure expertise is a plus. The location will be in South San Francisco.

In this vital role you will:

• Show a high degree of independence to conduct experiments in the laboratory and provide scientific input into preclinical animal models will be used to advance the programs
• Conduct in vivo and ex vivo experiments to support drug discovery in cardio-metabolic disorders, heart failure is a plus
• To be highly motivated, with strong experimental and technical research skills, outstanding written and oral communication skills, and be able to work productively in a collaborative and cross-functional team environment within and outside of our laboratory.
• To demonstrate relevant areas of training as in vivo pharmacology in heart failure.

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years of relevant industry experience

Or

Master’s degree and 5 years of relevant industry experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of relevant industry experience

Preferred Experience:

• 3-5 years of work experience
• Experience in one or more of the following disease areas; cardiometabolic diseases.
• Demonstrate aptitude for independent research and innovative thinking
• Ability to design in vivo cardiovascular studies
• Provide mentorship and guidance to staff in the same function.
• Skilled in cardiovascular surgery
• Organizational skills and attention to detail will be crucial
• Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals
