Role Objective: Design and implement new experimental approaches to answer scientific questions. Explore, identify, develop, and optimize new methods and techniques. Contribute to project science in the field. Establish productive collaboration and communication with other groups in various scientific disciplines. Responsibilities: Independently plan, conduct, and evaluate research and development activities related to the manufacture of dosage forms; including actively supporting the development of formulations, manufacturing and testing processes, scale-up, and tech transfer to clinical samples and production, with little direction from or interaction with supervisor. Describes experiments, presents and evaluates results in the electronic laboratory notebook, development reports, and summary presentations in both English and German, adhering at all times to the rules of good scientific practice Demonstrates sustained scientific initiative and creativity in research or development activities Formulate conclusions and design follow-up experiments based on multidisciplinary data. Able to initiate work on new topics that make scientific sense and can be directly integrated into a research or development program and provide trustworthy data. First author of publications, presentations, regulatory documents and/or owner of patents. Demonstrates high level of expertise in a broad range of relevant technologies. Company standards related to code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, controlled drugs, GxP compliance are understood and adhered to. Supervision of trainees, interns and master's students. Represents supervisor on project related issues as well as coordinates activities and is responsible for meeting timelines Qualifications Natural scientist with a doctorate preferably in pharmacy or chemistry or equivalent training. Has a strong theoretical and practical understanding of own scientific discipline and the ability to independently acquire new experimental techniques Experience in the development, production and analysis of solid oral dosage forms, e.g. in the field of melt extrusion and spray drying Very good knowledge regarding development, manufacturing, testing and evaluation of pharmaceutical dosage forms, investigational drugs and medical devices Very good knowledge of national and international pharmaceutical legislation and regulatory frameworks Good computer skills, especially in MS standard software, knowledge of IDBS ELN an advantage Very good technical and general English skills, both written and spoken Excellent communication and teamwork skills, also on an international level Organizational skills and assertiveness Travel Yes, 5 % of the Time Job Type Experienced Schedule Full-time Job Level Code IC Equal Employment Opportunity At AbbVie, we value bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds to develop new and innovative solutions for patients.
