The Amgen Translational Immunology and Safety Sciences group based in South San Francisco, CA, is seeking a Senior Scientist to independently investigate immune related safety assessment to support Oncology, Inflammation, Cardio-metabolic disorder pipeline projects.

In this vital role, the Senior Scientist will supervise and mentor junior lab scientists, collaborate closely with toxicologists, pathologists and scientists within the organization, and with multi-functional teams, perform literature-based evaluation and in vitro assays for various pipeline projects and present the work to cross-functional teams.

  • The candidate should be able to independently initiate and drive projects
  • Intellectually supervise and mentor junior lab scientists
  • Contribute to the project development, as well as perform cellular immunological techniques, including multi-color flow cytometry, ELISA, MSD and in vitro immune cell assays.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of immunology, immune-oncology or molecular biology experience
  • Master’s degree and 7 years of immunology, immune-oncology or molecular biology experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of immunology, immune-oncology or molecular biology experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD, MD with postdoctoral training and 5+ years of research experience in the fields of immunology, immune-oncology or molecular biology OR
  • MS with 10+ years of research experience in the fields of immunology, immune-oncology or molecular biology.
  • Ability to independently initiate and drive projects, intellectually contribute to project development.
  • Perform cellular immunology techniques including multi-color flow cytometry, ELISA, MSD and in vitro immune cell assays.
  • Encouraged to have basic immunology training and strong cellular immunology and cell culture technical skills.
  • In addition, the candidate should have strong verbal and written communication skills, be highly motivated, creative and collaborative.
  • Track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement in the area of immunology.
