Senior Scientist - Inflammation Research

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will investigate mechanisms of immune mediated pathogenesis in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases with the goal to develop novel immune-modulatory therapies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cutting-edge research related to autoimmune diseases
  • Independently lead a laboratory group, as well as project teams
  • Collaborate with other research scientists at multiple Amgen sites, including teams in other functional areas such as Therapeutic Discovery, Medical Sciences, Human Genetics, Biomarker discovery and Computational Biology
  • Develop novel immune-modulating therapies using various innovative technologies and approaches
  • Manage projects from early discovery through therapeutic development
  • Make major scientific laboratory-based contributions to the research goals and milestones of the Inflammation therapeutic area
  • Publish experimental findings in top-tier Journals and present novel findings at national and international conferences

Basic Qualifications

  • Doctorate Degree and 2 years of postdoctoral training and experience in various autoimmune diseases OR
  • Master’s Degree and 5 years of relevant experience in various autoimmune diseases OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 7 years of relevant experience in various autoimmune diseases

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD or MD, with postdoctoral training and research experience in various autoimmune diseases, such as psoriasis, asthma, atopic dermatitis, and rheumatoid diseases
  • Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking, creativity and scientific research achievement in the areas of immunology as demonstrated by high impact publications and/or significant contributions to therapeutic programs
  • Ability to identify therapeutic targets and lead a team to generate a drug against those targets
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and can thrive in a highly collaborative and fast-paced research environment
  • Exceptional communicator, in writing and as a speaker
  • Ability to collaborate and troubleshoot to solve problems

Technical expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Multi-color flow cytometry
  • Omics data analysis
  • Complex cell-based functional assays
  • 3D organoid cultures
  • Genetic manipulation of cell lines and/or primary cells
  • Analysis of gene regulation at the single cell level
  • Cell signaling / biochemistry
  • In vivo models of disease
  • Computational Biology
