Discovery Sciences is a multi-faceted department that drives early drug discovery across AstraZeneca’s global Research & Development portfolio. Mechanistic Biology & Profiling (part of Discovery Sciences) is a global department responsible for mechanism-of-action studies and compound profiling in support of oncology, respiratory, cardiovascular, inflammation and neuroscience portfolios.
We have an opportunity for a highly motivated Senior Scientist who will play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives. You will have the opportunity to utilise your scientific capabilities to contribute to the progression of key drug discovery programs in a highly collaborative environment.
What you’ll do
In this role you will be a lab-based scientist delivering high quality in vitro pharmacology data and mechanistic insights in the high performing DMTA (Design Make Test Analyze) Team aligned to developing and implementing novel accelerated workflows for drug discovery projects; including biochemical, cellular and kinetic datatypes, to significantly shorten the testing cycle and supporting medicinal chemistry while working in partnership with colleagues across AZ.
Proactive collaboration and liasing with internal key stakeholders to ensure solutions are aligned with AZ strategy and stakeholder requirements.
Essential Criteria
- Formal training and proven expertise (PhD & some postdoc or industry experience) in a cell biology and/or biochemistry based discipline.
- Experience in delivering plate-based pharmacology data to drive Drug Discovery Projects
- Excellent problem solving skills, not limited to own area of expertise
- Proven Expertise in data analysis and an ability to communicate data interpretation clearly
- Ability to collaborate to achieve objectives with a flexible and enthusiastic approach to your work.
- Proven reputation gained through external presentation and publication
