In this vital role, you will have the opportunity to establish a laboratory with new hardware, generate decision making data packages across the pipeline (oncology, cardiometabolic disease, inflammation, and biomarkers), and have high visibility across the discovery research organization.

Amgen Comparative Medicine is seeking a Senior Scientist - Molecular Imaging to join our dedicated team of scientists in our Thousand Oaks, CA location.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Partner with multiple therapeutic area researchers to advance the pipeline by running model development, biodistribution, and pharmacodynamic imaging studies
  • Design and conduct preclinical imaging studies
  • Mentor, train, and lead all aspects of staff performing studies
  • Analyze images (e.g. place regions of interest)
  • Statistically analyze imaging data
  • Author study reports
  • Lead preclinical imaging laboratory operations and supporting function including radiopharmacy contracts and maintaining IACUC protocol
  • Represent Comparative Medicine through internal and external presentations and the submission of manuscripts for publication

Basic Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of imaging or pharmacology experience
  • Master’s degree and 5 years of imaging or pharmacology experience
  • Bachelor s degree and 7 years of imaging or pharmacology experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in pharmaceutical sciences, biology, and/or imaging or related fields with equivalent professional degrees (e. g. DVM) with 3 years of preclinical imaging experience
  • 3+ years industry or relevant academic experience imaging or pharmacology
  • Proficiency in 1+ statistical software (e. g. GraphPad PRISM) and 1+ image analysis package (e.g. Amira, Vivo Quant, OsiriX)
  • Strong in vivo rodent skills including IV injection, anesthesia, and sample collections
  • Proficiency in preclinical imaging acquisition (PET/CT preferred)
  • Broad in vivo experience working with multiple therapeutic areas
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Desire to be a team player in a dynamic, cross-functional environment
