The Azure Cloud Server Infrastructure Development (CSI) team is seeking a Senior Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI) Engineer to direct development of complex high-speed electrical and optical designs at leading-edge signaling rates. The candidate will support in-house and ODM/OEM designs at the card and system level, lead investigations of new technologies and direct investigations of failing designs.
The Cloud Server Infrastructure Development (CSI) team is responsible for development and delivery of server hardware for Microsoft Cloud data centers customers. This includes hardware definition, development, and validation of Server and Rack Infrastructure for our in-house and ODM/OEM development projects. Candidate will work closely with Microsoft product groups, industry partners and researchers to architect and develop server hardware solutions that meet the requirements for Microsoft cloud services platforms at the lowest possible cost of ownership (TCO).

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Work with internal teams to define and specify SI and PI requirements to meet cost, schedule and performance objectives
- Interact with external component vendors to influence their product developments to align with Microsoft’s requirements
- Develop and maintain test procedures to validate and improve SI and PI requirements
- Collaborate to ensure systems meet significant quality, reliability and service level requirements for a cloud environment
- Participate in industry standards setting organizations and industry forums to influence specifications
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- BS/MS Electrical Engineering
- 8+ years of relevant experience in interconnect technology and SI/PI design and architecture
- Knowledge and experience with copper and optical connectivity
- Experience developing interconnect electrical budget, component and channel specifications, and SI/PI test plans
- Experience working with ODMs and OEMs on requirements and specifications
- Lab experience validating and debugging complex high-speed designs
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Desired skills and experience:
- Experience working across multiple disciplines and organizations to resolve complex issues
- Experience with standards setting organizations for electrical and optical interconnects. Familiarity with COM is a plus
- Experience with SI tools and analysis such as Keysight ADS, MATLAB, EM field solvers, and S-parameter processing and evaluation software
- Experience with PI tools and analysis such as Cadence Power SI Tools
Position requires limited domestic and international travel.
