Job Description

The Senior Software Analyst is responsible for providing project management and business analyst services for their assigned technical product(s), application(s) or projects, within the context of an agile/DevOps delivery model. The role has the ability to implement coding and configuration work on the assigned IT products/applications and is comfortable guiding technical resources to do such implementations. The incumbent may also execute operations topics and the agile scrum master role.

Responsibilities: 

Managing the delivery of assigned projects by:

  • Utilizing BMW ITPM processes to direct the execution of IT related projects, and contribute accordingly as senior member of feature teams
  • Coordinating business, IT and provider resources to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality, cost-efficient projects
  • Executing appropriate ITPM and technical delivery tasks, activities and deliverables as necessary to ensure project success
  • Managing key project management processes and artifacts to ensure successful project delivery

Delivering business analysis services for products by:

  • Building a strong understanding of the assigned business processes, functions, roles and rules, as well as the technical applications supporting these
  • Owning the functional and technical solution– the big picture story – of the initiatives being delivered
  • Collaborating with the Business to elicit requirements, define acceptance criteria, and maintain a prioritized product backlog
  • Creating user stories to the level of granularity required by the team
  • Clarifying inconsistencies and resolving issues to bridge the gap between user expectations and the delivered product
  • Guiding technical team members on the implementation of coding and configuration, reviewing relevant work results, and in smaller feature teams, perform coding and configuration tasks
  • Testing deliverables against a user story’s acceptance criteria to validate that the delivered product meets the business goals

Coordinating the agile delivery process by:

  • Leading the Agile team in the adoption and execution of Agile processes
  • Planning and facilitating key Agile events including daily scrum, sprint planning, sprint demo and retrospective meetings
  • Collaborating with the Product Owner to manage the Product backlog
  • Clearing obstacles and enabling the efforts of the scrum team

  • BA/BS degree in a technical, business field or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of progressively increasing professional experience in IT, with at least
  • 3+ years in a senior level role
  • 2+ years in business analysis/requirements management and/or project management
  • 1+ years managing Agile projects
  • Experience in the technical solution stack applied in the incumbent’s area of responsibility, e.g. Javascript, .Net, C#, Web, databases, Salesforce, ASP, ASP.net, Angular JS, T-SQL, Python, HTML, Oracle, R, ABAP, SAP HANA, Adobe Experience and Marketing Cloud
  • Experience in software engineering and understanding of software architecture concepts, e.g. for Cloud based environments and cloud migration, user experience design and test driven development, test automation and continuous integration and deployment, Rest API and other service oriented architecture approaches
  • Strong analytical and conceptualization skills.  Strong ability to structure, illustrate and or communicate complex concepts in a understandable, practicable manner
