Eaton’s Electrical Engineering Services and Systems team is currently seeking Senior Software Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Warrendale, PA, Moon Twp, PA location, or remotely outside of a 50 mile radius from the mentioned sites. Position Overview: The Senior Software Engineer will be leading efforts to develop a Software suite for a Microgrid control solution. This role is responsible for guiding all stages of software development including product road mapping, requirements gathering, project planning, Cloud structure design, Back-end data management, UI/UX, Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), web-based configuration tools, mobile applications, data visualization, development, testing, deployment, and support that ultimately solves a customer or business problem. Senior Software Engineer will work closely with a multi-discipline team to meet product technical and marketing requirements, and provide continuous improvement based on customer feedback. The role will drive product line software requirements through the collaboration with marketing and engineering teams across the microgrid and energy transition team, Microgrid Control Product Team, and the DERMs COE In this function you will: Lead the architecture, design, development, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of software suite for microgrid control solution. Be responsible for defining and building out a software system architecture for cloud-based and web-based user interface applications including the interconnectivity of embedded devices, back-end cloud development, and backend data management services. Lead a well-established team of software engineers, developers, and testers to deliver high-quality, highly-performant Microgrid control software. Development is primarily targeted for Microsoft Azure, utilizing the following languages and tools: MATLAB, CodeSYS, C#, C++, JavaScript, HTML, and Python. Provide technical leadership to all lifecycle stages including requirements analysis, architecture/technical specifications, software design and implementation Document and present solutions to stakeholders by using demonstrations, flowcharts, diagrams, code snippets, and performance instruments. Provide work estimates and participate in design, implementation, and code reviews. Work closely with global business leaders, engineering managers, project managers, product teams, stakeholders, UX, architects, developers, and IT to define requirements, manage solution backlogs, prioritize work, coordinate product roadmaps, and iteratively deliver new features on a regular cadence. Lead the development of a unified data model, protocol adapters, and application programming interface (API) for the Microgrid Energy Management solution. Lead and mentor a team of engineers to develop software libraries and tool kits. Drive process improvements within the software development team and the Business Unit When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in computer science or engineering from an accredited institution. Minimum of 4 years of experience with Internet of Things (IoT) or delivering cloud enabled products (ex: Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, etc.). Minimum of 4 years of experience in User Interface development (HMI, Web, and Mobile) for industrial products[VMA1] Must be able to work in the United States without company sponsorship. Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent 4+ years of experience developing enterprise grade, highly scalable web-based applications and/or distributed systems. 3+ years of experience in Microsoft technologies. Development experience with Microsoft Azure a plus. 3+ years in teams applying modern agile software development practices such as SCRUM, etc. Excellent level skills in C++ / C# / Visual Studio / Visual Code Experience with Java / JavaScript / HTML5 / CSS3 Experience with native app development for iOS and/or Android Graphic design experience and a eye for good UX design Experience with dynamic web application frameworks (e.g. AngularJS, React, etc.) Experience with networking protocols and concepts (websockets, http, tcp, mqtt, amqp) Experience with SQL Position Criteria: Successfully complete and maintain compliance with Eaton's safety policies and programs Abreast of upcoming software development/engineering tools, trends, and methodologies Good judgment, time management, and decision-making skills Collaborate with a global multi-discipline engineering team (software, firmware, hardware, power systems, and test) to deliver products and features in the cloud. Expert level skills in Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), C#, C++, MATLAB, CodeSys, JAVA, Python and/or Java and associated IDE’s (Visual Studio, Eclipse, IntelliJ, etc.) Thorough understanding of software design principles, algorithms, data structures, and multithreading concepts. Understanding of object-oriented design and programming skills, including the use of design patterns Solid understanding of network and distributed computing concepts Working knowledge of microservices and active streams (event driven architectures?) Knowledge of CI/CD concepts, tools, and technologies Strong problem solving and software debugging skills Exceptional ability to lead, collaborate, openly communicate, influence others, present, and negotiate effectively across disciplines and stakeholders (marketing, engineering, customer support, etc.) Demonstrated experience delivering results in an ambiguous and changing environment, with the ability to work independently and be a self-starter, working on several initiatives at one time, in a fast-moving and evolving business Ability to learn and demonstrate new technology and skills.
