Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create written test solutions for user stories within a Scrum or Kanban team
- Work within team-defined commitment windows to provide value to our customers and clients
- Work with the Scrum or Kanban team to create solutions for stakeholders and clients
- Tests user interfaces, SQL databases, reports, APIs, and data transmissions
- Create tests, including test data, in a variety of testing environments
- Write, modify, and execute basic automation scripts
- Clearly and succinctly speak to, and incorporate, testing methodologies, principles, and techniques
- Develop, modify, and execute moderately complex SQL queries
- Use judgment within defined policies and practices
- Document and communicate issues and/or concerns discovered during sprints
- Assist in building a culture of learning and continuous improvement for the team (QA and SCUM/KANBAN)
- Work with other groups, displaying strong communication and collaboration skills
- Demonstrate an understanding of how applications are used by customers, clients, and internal support
- Work independently with light reliance on a more senior team member
- Make continuous self-education a priority
- Exhibit drive and intellectual curiosity to investigate and solve issues with their Scrum or Kanban team
- Apply test methodology, as well as business process and application knowledge, in the design of tests and testing strategies/approaches
- Clearly articulate the IT infrastructure supporting existing and new applications and services
- Mentor junior testers
- Peer review test cases
- Write and execute API tests
- Collaborate with other scrum teams
- Identify tasks/ dependencies/ risks during backlog grooming/planning
- Provide reasonable test estimates
- Articulate technical issues
- Participate in user story and test case reviews to ensure appropriate coverage, identifies and remedies gaps in stories or test coverage
- Follow established processes and procedures pertaining to Scrum/Kanban, software development, quality assurance, and regulations. (i.e. SOX, FDA, QMS, HIPAA, PCI, etc.)
- This position will also be required to work nights and weekends as needed to support development efforts and to perform production release validations
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Software Development or Computer Sciences and 3 to 4 years of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 3-4 years of strong hands-on QA experience with web applications and backend preferably developed using SQL Server, Windows Server, Visual Studio .NET, ASP.NET, HTML, C## is required
- Typically, at least 2 years of experience in database testing with the ability to read, write, and execute complex SQL queries
- Typically, proficiency with web services, web sites, database, network connectivity and authentication, SQL Server, configuration, and debugging
- Minimum 2 years of experience managing software builds and code deployments in multiple environments is preferred
- 2+ years of automation experience using record and playback tools such as Telerik, UFT/QTP, and/or Katalon Studios, with automation experience creating automation scripts from scratch is preferred.
- Two (2) additional years of experience in manual testing may be substituted.
- Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Work, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, etc. is preferred
- Experience with Team Foundation Server (TFS), is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines and function well under pressure
- Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships with all departments within the Information Technology department, as well as with business partners
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, as well as organization and document skills
- Ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills
COMPETENCIES:
Certifications, licenses, etc. are not required for this position, however, holding or obtaining a certification from an industry-recognized testing and quality assurance entity is advantageous for this position.
Examples of industry-recognized certifications are:
- ISTQB/ASTQB-CTFL: Certified Tester-Foundation Level or equivalent
- ISTQB/ASTQB Certified Agile Tester Extension or equivalent
