WHAT YOU’LL DO
Responsible for developing and executing category strategies for Electronic Component categories within Electronics portfolio. Work intimately with internal stakeholders, divisions and the cross-functional teams driving the "One Abbott Procurement" model. Provide superior levels of customer service and satisfaction while adhering to a strict standard of business ethics and integrity. This position will work on the definition and resolution of known or anticipated problems in value, quality, feasibility and specifications in the procurement of goods and services while contributing cost savings, partnerships with suppliers and other value-added activities to support customer needs and expectations. Drive reduced total cost of ownership (TCO) by optimizing Tier 2 and Tier 3 supply chains. Leverage extensive market and supplier knowledge to drive lower TCO. Proactively seek and lead innovative ways to improve the procurement processes, cycle times, and customer service levels. Considered as Subject Matter Expert across categories by keeping oneself abreast with innovation pertinent to Abbott businesses.

Develops and implements category strategies for the Electronics portfolio, procurement plans and deliver results for value creation and cost savings for the Abbott businesses in the fast-changing business environment. Utilize tools such as should cost to drive savings.
Has the ability to manage business complexities, anticipates internal/external business challenges and drives change. Collaborates with internal stakeholders to establish sourcing strategies that improve supplier performance, minimize supply chain disruptions, improve quality and reduce costs.
Lead projects/initiatives that have significant impact upon global business by achieving project milestones and objectives.
Lead supplier identification / selection and negotiations of strategic supplier agreements with key suppliers of Electronics categories.
Develop supplier KPI's and management.
Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders to support and proactively respond to business needs.
Ensure adherence to Corporate Procurement guidelines.
Leveraging professional expertise and relationships to contribute to strategy and drive business results. Leads development of functional strategy.
Understands the common category needs of multiple business units and to leverage Abbott’s strengths to obtain best values for the businesses.
Educate stakeholders on industry best in class product and category solutions.
Manage initiatives that span virtual teams across the world and cross cultures.
Partner with business stakeholders to manage and align the category. Closely collaborate across businesses and suppliers to ensure adequate and timely delivery of Electronic components, in line with agreed service levels.
Partner and collaborate with key Global Procurement staff of other Abbott divisions to support cross divisional business initiatives and explore Procurement synergies and efficiencies.
Ensure optimal balance between value for money and cost savings is achieved, while ensuring quality and good customer service.
Continually look for opportunities for cost reductions and cost avoidance and to provide overall value.

Drive Total Cost of Ownership reductions for category. Clearly define category taxonomy and manage baseline.
Develop and implement agreed purchasing strategies for category.
Advise business unit(s) about similar strategies employed by other healthcare companies.
Manage initiatives that span virtual teams across the world and cross cultures.
Relationship Management:
Partner with business leaders (Manager, Director) to manage and align the category. Closely collaborate with adjacent business departments, and external partners to ensure adequate and timely delivery of agreed services, in line with agreed service levels.
Partner and collaborate with key One Procurement staff of other Abbott divisions in order to support cross divisional business initiatives and explore Procurement synergies and efficiencies.
Build and maintain strategic relationships with key category vendors as well as counterparts at other Healthcare/Consumer companies. Manage ongoing Supplier relationships.
Initiate a collaborative environment among stakeholders.
Maintain strong relationships across various functions, demonstrate the value-add of leveraging and build enthusiasm and support for adoption.
Manage category projects across business unit, and division wide when and where applicable. Participate in business projects based on category expertise.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
BS (Engineering – Electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical) or equivalent experience required; MBA preferred
Successful, 7+ year track record in engineering, manufacturing and/or procurement for consumer electronics or medical device companies
Master's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations or a related field is desirable
Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification desirable
5-8 years of deep Technical and /or Procurement Engineering experience. Some functional experience
Strong project management skills
Robust people skills that include developing strong relationships and solving problems. Strong use of spreadsheet programs
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Excellent interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills
International experience
Some knowledge of markets by regions
Some experience with Supplier management
Ability to develop actionable implementation plans
Relevant business process knowledge, as related to Procurement and Category Management
Knowledge of category technologies and products
Good negotiating skills
Some experience leading teams
