This role resides in the BizTech Team. BizTech hosts the employees of Airbnb through reliable internal systems, innovative products and technical support that allows for empowered and inclusive progress. BizTech builds technical breakthroughs and crafts strategies that offer IT services hosting Airfam. We like to think of it as IT with a high tech human touch.
About this role: We’re looking for an organizational leader with a strong background in project and program management and leading a PMO. Reporting to the Chief of Staff to the CIO, this role will stand up the CIO’s organization's global program management office (PMO). One of your top goals will be to build a world-class, global PMO that defines and drives organization business and strategic objectives across multiple program domains and geographies. You will work closely with the service delivery team to optimize and iterate frameworks and best practices for the organizations while owning relationships with senior leaders to ensure appropriate engagement is set (ex: annual & quarterly planning, roadmap, capacity planning) Is responsible for formulating and implementing strategies for short and long term impact and preservation of goals (Intake and OKRs). Key to the success will be acting as a change agent for portfolio improvements and influencing key stakeholders internally and externally within their areas of expertise to ensure the best interest of the company.
What You’ll Do
- Architect and implement the strategy, structure, and operating rhythm for the global P&P PMO, inspired by a center of excellence mindset and substantiated by industry best practices.
- Design and operationalize project and program management governance for Biztech teams including a framework, processes, tools, and standards that will drive program uniformity and reliability.
- Build dashboards to enable data based decision making balancing the portfolio of projects.
- Grow a matrixed team of project and program managers who will strive for operational excellence as they drive the organization toward business results, cohesiveness and community.
- Design and operationalize the short-term (0-12 month) planning process while partnering with strategy leads focused on the longer range plan to create and integrate the short and long term roadmaps.
- Lead and communicate the status of key planning milestones such as annual and quarterly planning as well as large scale cross functional and cross company programs led by P&P.
- Drive and influence discussions among stakeholder groups to assess organizational priorities, work through trade-offs, and make strategic decisions to keep our BizTech organization, and Airbnb focused on stated objectives.
- Serve as the connective tissue by elevating and owning relationships between the most critical initiatives within BizTech and our stakeholders to deliver cohesive project and program delivery.
What You'll Need
- Deep experience managing cross-functional projects in a rapidly changing industry, managing ambiguity, and demonstrating problem-solving mastery with limited oversight.
- Strategic planning expertise, with an ability to craft high-level narratives that influence senior leadership, keep them engaged and aligned to meet specified timelines.
- Experience building and maintaining key relationships outside direct reporting lines from individual contributors to managers and executives.
- Well-developed tactical, problem-solving and analytical skills that complement your big-picture thinking.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including shifting from delivering an executive presentation to providing tactical updates for stakeholders.
- Strong time management and prioritization capabilities.
- An assumption of positive intent that is balanced with a bias for understanding and mitigating impact.
- Successfully used various program management tools such as JIRA, Asana, and Airtable.
The starting base pay for this role is between $180,000 and $225,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: education, experience, and skills. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
