Our location in Plano, TX currently has an opportunity for a for a Senior Staff System Test Engineer possessing a combination of hardware, software, and testing experience with medical products. This Senior Staff Engineer will be expected to work under minimal supervision. Their primary responsibility will be system-level test integration of low power mixed signal implantable and external medical products.  Specifically, these include neurostimulators, patient controllers, and physician programming devices.  This individual will need to interface with Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, R&D, and other groups as necessary to accomplish project requirements

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Develop Design Input, Output, Verification and Validation plan for Design Function

  • Develop and execute Verification and Validation protocols based on system requirements

  • Develop and initiate sampling procedures and statistical process control methods

  • Drive quality control activities (including, but not limited to, FMEA, Hazard Analysis etc.)

  • Develop test strategies to determine the best means of providing design verification and reliability.

  • Validate test methods using equipment qualification, software validation, DOE, and measurement analysis.

  • Develop and qualify new test tools and protocols, ensuring that test objectives are effectively incorporated.

  • Coordinate assigned projects resources (technical and equipment) maximizing test throughput efficiency

  • Plan time and priorities in an effective manner to achieve all tasks assigned with the objective of assuring data integrity and compliance.

  • Apply design for reliability (DFR) and design for test (DFT) concepts (DFMEA, FTA, etc) during the product development process to ensure that designs are intrinsically reliable.

  • Analyze test data for conformance to pre-determined acceptance criteria and prepare formal reports and results summaries.

  • Assist the engineering team in failure investigations / root cause analysis for problems identified during lab testing and field issues.

  • Work with lab technicians, both internal and external, to execute and troubleshoot product testing

  • Use problem-solving skills: 5Ms, 5 Whys, Gage R&R, etc. to determine the root cause of issues.

  • Perform studies on functional and parametric product performance, conduct failure and trending analyses and provide feedback as required cross functionally.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering.

  • Minimum of 12 yrs of experience as an Electrical Test or Systems/Application Test Engineer. 

  • Strong understanding of Design Controls, Verification, Validation and Design Transfer. Demonstrated expertise in automation testing techniques.

  • Strong expertise with PC applications including MS Word, MS Project, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Must be a self-starter with strong problem solving, technical writing, and communication skills.

  • Must be customer service oriented and experienced at interaction on all levels of engineering professionals.

Preferred

  • Medical Device industry experience strongly preferred.

  • Familiarity with higher level programming languages.

  • MRI or RF experience is a plus

  • Working knowledge in domestic and international medical device requirements (such as with the Medical Device Directives AIMD, MDD, CMDR, JGMP, ISO 13485:2003, ISO 14971, Biocompatibility ISO 10993, EN, IEC, UL, CSA, FCC and other relevant domestic and international standards
