Job Description
Responsibilities:
Support Art team technical requests to be achieved by communicating with Engine Technology Department
Keep abreast of current and future trends and methods of graphics software and hardware, so as to plan tools and processes as soon as possible
Participate in technical processes and tools development for project specific needs
Make a comprehensive prediction and analysis of the performance budget in the prototype stage, maintain a balance between creative achievement of the project and the technical budget constraints
Optimize and improve in-game assets to improve memory and performance while maintaining visual effect quality
See the potential risks of the project and warn the management
Cooperate with technical director to develop Art production pipeline and technical specifications to meet the needs of Art team to create high-quality art work under the condition of limited resources
Determine best practices through teamwork
Provide Technical Art reference for the team, find causes and solutions for complicated issues.
Provide feedback and advice to team members, effectively communicate and support management requriements.
Assist in setting artist training plan as required, output technical documents with pictures and texts
Participate in the development of Art Assets, Model Texture, Animation Effects, Lighting Renders and shaders.
Support the emergency needs and tasks from Art Director, Technical Director and Chief graphic designer.
Skills:
At least 8 years game technical art development or related experience
Lead at least one full cycle 3A console game / mobile game from 0-1 with technical art director's responsbility
Bachelor degree or above in Art Design, Computer Technology or other related majors
Proficient in multi - category game art and animation production pipeline
Familiar with data management version control software (e.g. perforce)
Understand the advantages and limitations of different game platforms
Familiar with different hardware architectures
Proficient in 3D graphics software 3DS Max, Maya, etc., with knowledge of scripting / programming in languages such as max script, python, C sharp, etc
Excellent time and priority management
Proficient in 2D and 3D art
Excellent communication skills and team management skills
