Job Description

Our Content Publishing team creates documentation to drive customer productivity and satisfaction with Microsoft Dynamics Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) products. Our products include financial, supply chain, professional services, project operations, fraud protection, and commerce/retail management. We’re looking for an experienced editor to help shape our content strategy and polish our content.

 

This position can be based at either the Microsoft Development Center in Fargo, ND or at the Microsoft Advanta campus in Bellevue, WA but we can’t relocate candidates.

Responsibilities

As a member of our team, you can expect to:

  • Take a lead in improving the quality of the content that our team publishes
  • Help drive the strategy for our content model and content discoverability, with an eye on customer satisfaction
  • Edit topics and whitepapers, and assist writers and product team members in improving the content that they create
  • Develop quality standards, guidelines, and best practices for writing
  • Help ensure the quality and consistency of terminology
  • Collaborate with talented and experienced writers and editors in Denmark and the US

Qualifications

We need someone who will take smart risks, doesn’t need hand-holding, has big ideas and opinions, and knows how to engage the ideas and opinions of others. You must have excellent editing skills, strong project management skills, and the ability to juggle multiple tasks.

 

The ideal candidate will also have many of the following characteristics:

  • Five or more years of experience doing developmental and copy editing work on technical documentation (for end users, system administrators, and developers)
  • A proven track record in improving the content created by writers
  • Ability to learn new tools, technologies, and processes quickly and independently
  • Ability to work and strive in a collaborative environment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft editing practices and guidelines
  • Knowledge of GitHub and Markdown
  • Knowledge of ERP or other business software and its documentation
  • Experience of working in a distributed team
  • A graduate degree in Technical Communications, Journalism, English, or a related discipline

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
