Duties
The appointee will be required to:
(a) provide IT support to the Laboratory’s researchers, administrative and marketing activities;
(b) undertake system maintenance and development duties, including programming, testing, implementation, enhancement and related system support tasks;
(c) undertake hardware and software maintenance, enhancement and support;
(d) implement and support various web-based database applications;
(e) provide IT support and occasionally work at different sites, including but not limited to PolyU’s campus, venues for external conferences and exhibitions;
(f) liaise with internal and external parties to ensure the provision of quality IT services; and
(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of the Laboratory and/or his/her delegates from time to time.
The appointee may be required to work beyond normal office hours for IT troubleshooting and technical support.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline;
(b) possess at least two years’ post-qualification work experience;
(c) have a proven track record of managing network devices, such as firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points, unified communication manager, VPN gateways and voice gateways, etc.;
(d) have experience in managing and maintaining operating systems and hardware for Windows and Macs as well as audio visual equipment;
(e) have experience in using the following technologies are preferred: mobile IDE tools (React Native, Vue, Cordova), web standards (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, Ajax), programming languages (Java, Objective-C, Swift, Python), data integration/API (databases, Node.js, REST, JSON), and application with large data structures using NoSQL (ELK, MongoDB);
(f) have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications;
(g) be able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English and Chinese; and
(h) have strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
Applicants with less experience may be considered for the post of Technical Officer.
Remuneration
