Senior Technical Program Manager - Data Platform

As we march towards delivering the Connected Trip across Booking Holdings we need to improve personalization through machine learning, qualitative data models enabled by a cloud platform and data governance.

As a Technical Program Manager for our Data team in Amsterdam, you'll drive the quality and velocity of our technology. You should be comfortable with owning issues and managing the outcome. You enjoy driving, resolving, facilitating and follow up. You understand the risks and the trade-offs, and are both technical and process focused. Thinking strategically and tactically along with being innovative, an exemplary leader, an excellent communicator, influencer, and working with a premier team will help you be successful in the role. 

We are the Data Platform Technology team within Booking. We collaborate with every other team at Booking to deliver on our broad mandate of Data Platforms that are secure, robust, and effective. To achieve this, we continuously reflect, learn, and commit to develop our platform, our processes, and our people. You will need to be a smart risk taker who can deliver big ideas as well as transform them into scalable programs. This position has high levels of exposure to senior members of the organization, where you would be preparing documentation for senior executives and align roadmaps with organizational objectives.

B.Responsible

  • Align product vision with technology/architectural design for critical aspects of the program
  • Lead teams through the transition from ideation to execution
  • Define projects, collect requirements, write detailed functional and test specifications, coordinate efforts to scope, schedule and deploy new features sets
  • Undertake research to better define the opportunity and understand customer requirements
  • Partner with leaders across the company, both locally and internationally
  • Work closely with development teams to build and launch new products, features and programs

B.Skilled

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science
  • 7+ years in product/program management/technical PM working directly with software development teams
  • Experience with some Big Data technologies (Hadoop, Impala, Kafka, Hive, etc) and Java and deep experience with best practices in software engineering practices
  • Insatiable curiosity and ability to understand architectural and technical aspects of Data Platform and DevOps projects
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to collect organize; analyze significant amounts of information and massive datasets (expertise in SQL, Hive)
  • Experience delivering with an agile methodology (SCRUM, RUP, XP)
  • A track record of project delivery for large, cross-functional projects
  • Experience of building and launching a new product or service from the ground up
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and recommendations
