Job Description

In this position, the Senior Technical Service Engineer HPC is the primary technical point of contact for selected key customers. You will support your colleagues, sales and business departments with your technical knowledge; you will assist them to identify business opportunities as well as maintain the quality and consistency of all technical information to customers. You will establish relations with refineries to provide solutions to their hydroprocessing needs, to discuss and review technical proposals and solve technical problems. The vacancy is based at our office in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Working together with technical sales in the preparation and execution of negotiation plans
• Assist the business in identifying technical needs and in defining marketing strategy
• Coaching of junior colleagues in the department
• Preparing and presenting technical offers to our customers
• Review technical proposals of colleagues and recommendations for HPC catalyst applications to existing and potential customers
• Maintain technical quality and consistency of all technical information to customers
• Performing technical services, like unit monitoring and troubleshooting

Skills and Education

• Academic working and thinking level (preferably Chemical Technology)
• At least 15 years of experience in at least one of the following disciplines: Research & Development, Refinery (operation and / or technical support) related to operation in Hydroprocessing units, Technical Sales,  including experience in troubleshooting and fulfilling an internal expert role
• Experience with hydrocracker operation is strongly preferred
• Strong leadership / people management skills
• An inquiring, flexible and service minded attitude
• Communicative skills: an eye for consultation, listening, and being able to respond clearly and with arguments
• Analytical thinking ability and solution-oriented thinking: showing creativity and initiative in solving technical (improvement) issues
• Team focus through an active contribution to a joint result
• A strong mix of technical and commercial skills is required to be successful
• Very good English skills, both written and spoken. Other language skills are welcome
• Excellent communication, presentation and collaboration skills
• Self motivating
