We are looking for a Senior Technical Solutions Consultant to work in one of our offices in the North America region, Boulder, San Jose Montreal, Plano, Boston. We would be open to consider a work remote option after a period of in-office on boarding.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Senior Technical Solutions Consultant provides a full range of technical services on large and/or complex projects and accounts that result in excellent customer satisfaction. The position also requires advanced technical expertise to ensure the highest quality and profitability on large and/or complex projects.    

This position requires an excellent communicator with a solid ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and will have experience in a similar role.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Operational Excellence – Provides high quality technical services on large and/or complex accounts that enable the delivery organization to deliver highest quality work in the most productive manner. Develops effective technical methodologies that often addresses complex, diverse and/or unique technical requirements. Plays a key role with new and existing clients to ensure the correct technical set up, source formats/requirements are understood, and compatibility issues are addressed.
  • Delivers Quality, Value, Results – Applies advanced technical skills to evaluate, develop and/or improve the effectiveness of technical processes and tools to ensure that efficiency, quality, and profitability are maximized across a variety of diverse client accounts (e.g., via the account audit program.) Develops quality assurance processes that ensure quality standards are met in complex and/or unique projects. Focuses on driving automation and simplification in technical processes and methodologies.
  • Functional Excellence – Leads continuous improvement initiatives (e.g. processes, methodologies) across the function that help to improve organizational capability and deliver higher quality services to clients. Working with management, helps to develop technical expertise within the function by delivering training (e.g., technology training), coaching, and mentoring.
  • Relationship Building – Collaborates within delivery organization and with other organizations to enhance technical services and contribute to overall organizational goals. Effectively communicates within and outside the organization to ensure critical information is clearly conveyed. Develops positive customer relationships by demonstrating a strong understanding of the client’s business, goals and requirements.  Works in a positive and constructive manner with project teams and clients to clarify and resolve issues.
    Employees in the Technical Processing Consulting roles typically focus and/or have expertise in the following areas. While it is common for responsibilities to fall within one of the areas below, it is also possible for employees to have responsibilities spanning more than one area
  • Localization Engineering – Responsibilities include examining various source files (e.g., XLIFF, XML, DITA, Content Management systems) and determining the best process, tools, and methodologies to prepare information for translation. Creates and prepares files for translation, ensuring that all necessary content is captured for translation. Focuses on creating repeatable processes (e.g., standard filters) that streamline and automate processes to drive efficiency and quality.
  • Testing Engineering– Responsibilities include designing and developing test suites for new projects using an exploratory mindset. Applies technical and linguistic expertise to highly complex client project evaluation requests, creates project execution plans, prepares estimates and quotes and runs highly complex projects end-to-end. Participates in client calls and meetings, provides high quality analytics and drives client engagement. Participates and contributes to program strategy and planning meetings. Researches and develops new approaches to solve both project-specific and general testing-related problems and roadblocks.
  • Multimedia and eLearning - Responsibilities include examining various source files (e.g., Video, eLearning and Rich Media) and determining the best process, tools, and methodologies to prepare information for translation. Creates and prepares files for translation, ensuring that all necessary content is captured for translation and supports in terms of meeting client output requirements. Focuses on creating repeatable processes (e.g., standard filters) that streamline and automate processes to drive efficiency and quality.
  • Technology Integration & Business Process - Responsible for analysing and documenting the divisional and client technical and associated business processes. Proposes and implements technology solutions to optimize processes with a view to increasing efficiencies (time, quality, cost) and the profitability of the division.
  • Solutions Consulting - Performs the full range of consultative and pre-sales support services to cultivate, obtain, and retain customers by helping them understand how SDL products and solutions can help achieve their business goals.  Applies advanced product/solution and pre-sales expertise in supporting the sales function in driving revenue growth.
  • Automation & AI - Design, develop and execute automation scripts in purpose of gaining efficiencies. The candidate should be able to identify opportunities for automation towards an AI solution.
  • Desk Top Publishing (DTP) – Responsibilities include examining various source file formats, style and layouts (ex. Office, FrameMaker, InDesign) and determining upfront the specific requirements to ensure the translated content is visually correct when implemented back in the client environment. Areas of focus include page layout, pagination, font and style, spacing and visuals. Responsibilities emphasize creating replicable standards and layouts for various target languages to drive efficiency and quality.
    QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
  • Strong interpersonal skills and superb communication skills (both verbal and written). Must feel comfortable interfacing with customers and internal groups.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to demonstrate results based on team performance.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead teams through a period of change
  • Able to travel abroad
  • Occasional flexible working hours

For this position you must have 3 out of 5 of the following:

 

  • 3+ years of experience in Localization Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in working with CMS’ and familiar with configuring integrations with external systems.
  • 3+ years of experience with Programming and script creation
  • 3+ years of experience with architecting complex technical solutions.
  • 2+ years of experience with SDL Products and solutions.

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Previous CAT Tool experience
  • Knowledge of localization processes
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL database
  • Knowledge of and ability to write VBA scripts or other types of scripts

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • University Degree
  • Typically requires minimum of 8- 10 years related experience.  Post graduate course work may be desired
  • Previous experience in a similar role
