JOB PURPOSE
To develop and drive Raw Materials Engineering as an area of excellence within the upstream Technical Development phase for Burberry.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure all engineering activities are effectively executed, including but not limited to: development, development testing, root cause analysis testing & response; article cost, risk assessment; compatibility (including colour & grading)
- Ensure high-levels of engineering standards are achieved across all article categories
- Ensure achievement of regulatory compliance is considered at all stages of development and achieved on the final article manufactured
- Execute technical approval process, including validation of material Specification and development testing results
- Timely, robust, customer focused decision making
- Propose Innovation in the technical development of RM & trims
- Ensure the effective documentation and capture of product technical information
- Mitigate risk by assessing compatibility within Bill of Materials
- Contribute to the development of technical standards
- Hold Business Partners accountable to Raw Materials performance standards, processes and production methodology
- Ensure capabilities and capacities, of Raw Material Suppliers are accurately reflected in the supplier matrix
- Continue to build collaborative partnerships with suppliers, ensuring timely 2-way communication to accomplish material development tasks
- Support the RM, Trim Procurement, PD, GS teams to monitor supplier performance, develop and improve supplier relationships
- Establish strong working relationship and collaboration with interfacing internal teams and with suppliers
- Identify opportunities for training and elevation of Suppliers
PERSONAL PROFILE
- Degree in Materials Technology /Engineering or equivalent
- Strong experience in Materials development or manufacturing
