Siemens Mobility have an opening for a Senior Test and Commissioning Engineer (Technical Services) for our Rail Infrastructure Electrification business. As a predominantly site-based role, there is no fixed office location requirements. However, the successful candidate must be flexible and willing to travel regularly for this role. Sites will be mostly located in the East Midlands and North East of England, so being located in this vicinity would be advantageous. The Rail Electrification Product business designs, supplies, installs, tests, and commissions switchgear equipment as well as the SCADA control system alongside other project engineering solutions to rail industry operators and suppliers worldwide. This includes the 8DA10/11/12 & ASG 25 Air insulated Switchgear, which is designed, manufactured, built & tested in the UK. In addition, we are leading the way within the railway industry in developing the next generation of rail technology Your role, and what you’ll be doing: The Senior Testing & Commissioning Engineer will work closely with the Technical Services Manager, Project Managers and all third-party workers to ensure a coordinated commissioning process is carried out on the Product side of the business, working at various substation manufacturer’s locations to oversee the fit out and test and commissioning of new substations. What will be my Responsibilities? Responsible for leading the successful commissioning into service of new electrification equipment for Product Supply, predominantly based at substation manufacturers locations during the fit out and testing of the integrated FAT. Lead the Co-ordination of site activities to ensure timely and efficient execution of the commissioning process, which includes fault finding, red marking designs and closing electrical and mechanical snags Final quality checks and tests prior to entry into Service. Compilation of the Site Commissioning Report and Quality documentation. Return of as installed records to the design department Interpreting electrical designs to identify faults if required Develop and produce ITP’s. Have a good understanding of HSQE legislation and procedures and follow the same in the approach to commissioning activities. Providing support to the design team that covers cross discipline work streams to provide an integrated solution for the customerEnsuring sufficient resources are obtained in a timely manner to meet programme commitments Ensuring productive and cost-effective use of technical resources to achieve company targets, margins and profit Positively influencing commissioning and construction safety performance and aims for zero accidents Supporting the project commercial process with the Commercial Manager and ensure all design change requests are quantified on site to capture costs. Maintaining effective communications with all project participants to ensure contract delivery Taking an active role in leading the coaching of junior /less experienced staff to ensure the developmental needs of both the individual and the business are met What Skills, Knowledge & Experience do I need for this role? Degree, HND or HNC qualification in a relevant subject area Extensive Test and Commissioning experience within the rail environment Network Rail traction supplies are typically 25kV or 50KV autotransformer derived, so experience of working with this equipment would be advantageous. Knowledge of Railway Electrification Infrastructure. Experience of factory Integration Testing (FIT) and subsequent Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) following delivery and siting of the modular buildings is desirable Experience and knowledge of relevant engineering disciplines. Demonstrable AC and DC electrification commissioning experience desirable. Demonstrable experience of leading Testing & Commissioning activities.
