Job Description

The Senior Training Specialist is a part of a global cross-functional team in the Quality, Training, and Risk Management team.

Working under minimal supervision, the Senior Training Specialist will act as a learning lead on global projects with a high degree of complexity, typically more than one deliverable, and a large scope, being accountable for the learning strategy and all of the project deliverables, timelines, and budgets. The individual in this role will partner with global stakeholders to develop and implement learning solutions to enhance organizational capabilities, reinforce AstraZeneca processes, and ensure regulatory compliance. They will conduct Learning Needs Analysis, determine the appropriate learning solution and design, develop, implement, and evaluate the transfer of learning. They will work with internal and external experts to support the design and development of learning solutions, and must be comfortable interacting with Senior Leaders (internal and external). The Senior Training Specialist will also ensure that learning solutions are assigned and tracked in the Learning Management System (LMS) where appropriate.

As an experienced training professional, the individual in this role will support Training Specialists by providing input on instructional design, learning modalities, Learning Needs Analysis, and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Conduct Learning Needs Analysis with stakeholders
  • Determine approach, modalities, and resource requirements for learning projects, in consultation with supervisor or Training Director
  • Identify the expertise that is required to design, develop, deliver, and evaluate learning solutions, and involve SMEs or other external resources as appropriate
  • Work independently or lead a team to design, develop, deliver, and evaluate learning solutions
  • Evaluates and manages vendors for outsourced learning development and implementation
  • Develop project plan and ensure learning solutions are delivered on time, on budget and to appropriate quality standards
  • Develop and implement learning communications to the appropriate stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Senior Leaders and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) throughout the design, development, and delivery of learning solutions
  • Develop templates for various learning solutions, including eLearning, classroom, video, and social media
  • Design instructional activities for eLearning using storyboards or other design documents that include learning objectives, content to support learning objectives, knowledge checks, interactive learning exercises and final assessment items
  • Design and develop instruction for workshops, classroom training, virtual webinars, including workshop activities, presentation slides, facilitator’s guides, participant’s guides, and additional materials
  • Use eLearning development tools, such as but not limited to PowerPoint, Articulate 360, and Captivate, to develop eLearning solutions
  • Collaborate with Scientific Learning team members to define best practices, maintain existing courseware, formulate appropriate program evaluation methods and ensure learning solutions are tracked in the LMS, as appropriate
  • Analyze evaluation data for learning solutions, and recommend corrective and preventative actions if deficiencies are identified

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience in learning and development in a corporate environment

Other Skills and Qualifications:

Ability to select and apply appropriate instructional design principles, methodologies, and adult learning principles, in the design and development of all training materials

Preferred Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years instructional design, development, and learning project management experience within biotech, pharmaceutical, or similarly regulated industries
  • Understanding of the drug development process within an R&D environment
  • Understanding of eLearning communication protocols (SCORM, xAPI, AICC), and Learning Management Systems is beneficial
