Job Description
Siemens Mobility are currently recruiting for a Senior Training and Development Specialist. You will have line management responsibility and will be responsible for leading the development, preparation, implementation and follow-up for all technical, safety and operational training activities for internal (Mobility Rolling Stock) and external customers. You will lead training of Mobility Rolling Stock employees and external customers to develop technical competencies and skills required for Education and Skills to achieve its strategic objectives. You will consolidate training for new fleet deployment, existing demand and provision of new services to new customers through Education and Skills. You will build and maintain a skilled and agile team to cope with the varied demands of a broad external customer base and deputise in the absence for the Business Partner Training Head. This is your role, what part will you play? Delivery of the defined training courses as agreed with the Business Partner Training Head Review course content when significant changes to fleet or train subsystems require amendments Development of courses on business request for new fleet mobilisation or to expand current trainer portfolio Agree course content with the Head of Training and ensure all courses are approved in line with the departmental process Carry out both safety critical and technical assessments as required Use feedback from candidates and customers to review and develop course content when appropriate Using knowledge and understanding of diversity and its impact to develop materials and organise training accordingly Maintain personal competence to ensure the delivery of training is at the best practice standard and utilising current training techniques. Responsible for allocating and procuring resources to deliver the training plan and ensure customer satisfaction with service Lead the evaluation of the effectiveness of programmes for updating, enhancement and sharing of best practice Ensure all Trainers are developed to the required standard of training, qualifications or experience Responsible for developing required safety critical, technical and operations assessments Plan and carry out required safety critical, technical and operational assessments as defined by the relevant Competency Management System and the Grading Policy Coordinate with the CAV and ELT team to support the ongoing apprentice NVQ assessments for both Rolling Stock and Education and Skills external customers Review and deliver the trail blazer competences for traction and rolling stock Investigate, resolve and respond to customer feedback and identify where possible, business development opportunities. Develop strong customer relationships at Production management, Fleet Performance level and understanding customer needs by anticipating emerging requirements. Demonstrate competence and development in all of the Siemens Management Standards and Siemens Leadership capabilities Place Employee Safety and Wellbeing at the forefront of your team management activities, and ensure your awareness and competence in employee welfare tools Develop a high-performance culture with strong employee engagement using the Siemens People Management policies and tools Enable the growth and development of individuals, championing your employee’s development and enabling them to develop using the “Own your Career” strategy. Ensure Employee Administration activities are completed in a timely manner and owning the Induction and Onboarding of employees, along with medicals where relevant Identify risks to Education and Skills delivery and develops actions for mitigation. Actively participate in our improvement programme and drive implementation of improvements from the team and continuously develop cross functional and departmental processes. Validate both training and assessment packs created by the Education and Skills training team. What qualifications and experience do you need? Essential: Technical knowledge of vehicle engineering maintenance procedures/practices Experience of managing and engaging technical teams to deliver results within a time-critical operation Engineering ONC/HNC/HND or equivalent qualification or experience Good knowledge of IT systems/software Experience of managing change and employee relations Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques and experience of implementing change projects in an engineering environment Good understanding of health and safety legislation, and ability to demonstrate implementation of health and safety procedures in safety critical environments Excellent communication skills both written and oral Strong organisation/planning skills Preferred: Experience within a Rail environment with technical engineering knowledge relating to Rolling Stock Professional membership Trainer and assessor qualifications (NVQ Level 4 and A1) or equivalent Working towards or have an internal verification qualification Rolling Stock technical knowledge Excellent knowledge of systems and software Good understanding of diversity and its impact on training About us We’re Siemens.
