Eaton’s Electrical – Industrial Control Division is currently seeking a Senior VAVE Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Haina facility. PRIMARY FUNCTION The primary responsibility of this role is to manage cost saving projects using Project Management tools, Project Charters, Financial Analysis worksheet and Project Timelines. Assure completion of project tasks in a timely manner alongside design engineering, supply chain, marketing and the associated manufacturing plants to improve product cost through Cost Out projects across all ICD locations. The focus should be on executing key VAVE projects in a timely manner, while also ensuring a healthy pipeline of project ideas. This position will work with the Division VAVE Manager to coordinate and track projects generated by Savings events such as IDB’s, VAVE’s, Supplier Total Waste Elimination, Supply Chain projects and individual contributor ideas. This position will work as part of the CPD cost productivity team in alignment with the overall strategy. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Manage projects and engineering related functions of top cost out projects, including evaluating financial, market and technical feasibility, coordinate test plans, and follow through on execution. Manage and maintain an active pipeline of VAVE projects, including footprint optimization across all of ICD. Coordinate with marketing, supply chain and engineering, evaluate competing products and lead the initiative to gain insight to cost opportunities which may be applied to Eaton products. Lead cross functional VAVE events to identify potential, actionable changes to design, material selection, etc. that lead to cost improvements through the engineering process. Follow and/or lead VAVE engineering, supply chain resourcing and other savings projects through to completion to ensure cost improvement results are delivered. Report on VAVE project status, progress and pipeline to all stakeholders; escalate where necessary. Ensure all cost out project leaders in plant portfolios follow standard procedures as prescribed by the divisional cost out team. Ensure data integrity of projects within ICD’s portfolio. Work together with VAVE director and engineering manager to develop standards for improved processes and tools. Work with Supply chain to develop supplier-based negotiation strategies and implement – pulling together quote packages, coordinating RFQs, and following through on quote analysis. A highly entrepreneurial sense of urgency along with a passion for the continuous improvement is desirable, along with a drive to grow both personally and professionally. Leads and facilitates cross functional teams in Kaizen, VAVE and Supplier Cost out events. Mentor peers on prioritization of projects and use of best practices. Qualifications SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business. Minimum 3-5 years’ work experience in engineering or a manufacturing environment. Preferred Qualifications Six Sigma Method and Tools (Green Belt certification) PM certification Ability to be self-directed, question the status quo, and a change agent. Bilingual in English and Spanish Position Criteria Ability to interface and work with Operations, Supply Chain and Design Engineering to achieve VAVE cost and/or productivity improvements. Confident working with senior plant and operations leaders throughout the organization. Understanding of Project Management fundamentals. Understanding of manufacturing and product cost accounting is fundamental to the position. Proficiency with application software packages such MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, Enovia, SAP, Supplier Insight is required. Good Communication, presentation, interpersonal and professional presence with internal/external customers and suppliers. Must achieve results through others not directly in reporting structure. Ability to explain and train others on VAVE concepts. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Position may require up to 25% travel. Candidate must be able to travel outside the continental United States.
