ABB's Robotics and Discrete Automation business is writing the future of flexible factory and smart machines by providing value-added solutions in robotics, machine and factory automation. Our integrated automation solutions, application expertise across a wide scope of industries and our global presence deliver tangible customer value.

Execute industrial research projects, responsible for pre-study and enabling technology development in the field of industrial robot applications, including, but limited to, machine vision, robot ease-of-use, advanced robot control for ultra-high accuracy and soft material handling, AI and so on.

Your responsibilities

  • Independently performing research work for ABB Robotics and Discrete Automation business to support R&D of Robotics Division as well as front-end business segments.
  • Performing lab testing for feasibility verification, concept-proof prototyping, and for experimental practical work with engineering sense.
  • Tracking and having insights into the technology and market trends to draw technology roadmap in industrial robot applications.
  • Supporting other development projects and ABB business support projects.
  • Living ABB’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.

Your background

  • Must have PhD degree (or master’s degree with 3+ year’s research experience) with a background in mechatronics or automation or computer science, or in relevant areas.
  • Good understanding on the key problem and technical trend of robot applications.
  • Solid know-how on robotics and understanding on its industrial applications.
  • Analytical, self-motivated, open minded with insights into new technologies, creative and business-oriented thinking required.
  • Detail-oriented personality required.
  • Good communication and presentation skills in English language required.
  • Team player with high level of initiative for global cooperation and knowledge-sharing.
