Job Description

The Intel Server Architecture team determines, specifies and evaluates the viability of complex hardware features and structures and ensures that software and hardware designs interface correctly. Designs framework for particular functions. Defines, documents and tests processes for inclusion into technical platforms, subsystem specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. Identifies, analyzes and resolves subsystem and/or SoC design weaknesses. Influences the shaping of future products by significantly contributing to the architecture used across design families. Provides multilayered technical expertise for next generation initiatives. This position requires prior experience

Intel Server Architecture team is looking for a Silicon Architecture Engineer to join our team.


In this position you will help us with the following responsibilities:

  • Write specification documents for implementation by designers. Be available from cradle-to-grave as design progresses and make trade-offs based on implementation constraints.

  • You may work on various horizontal aspects of design that span multiple products: These areas might include die-to-die industry-standard protocols, GPIO, configuring various aspects of the SoC internals (such as fabrics), specifying performance monitoring events, reliability hooks in a subsystem, debug hooks in a subsystem, write simple (Python) models to determine performance or power of a subsystem.

  • Defines interfaces between hardware, firmware, and software.

  • Uses knowledge and experience to influence architecture and design for future products.

In addition to the qualifications listed below, the ideal candidate will demonstrate the following traits:

  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.

  • Willingness to create a and present material to senior architects.

  • Attention to technical detail, problem solving skills and ambiguous.

  • Willing to multi-task and work in a dynamic team-oriented environment.


Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:
You must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering/or other related field with 4+ years of relevant experience or a Master's Degree with 3+ years of experience or a PhD with 1+ years of experience .

Your experience should be in the following areas:

  • Written specifications for other Si development (preferably microprocessors or SoC)

  • Owned, designed and debugged a subsystem or IP (in pre-Si) and successfully integrated it into a larger SoC/die

  • Programming languages: C, markdown languages for documentation, Python

  • Hardware/Software interfaces, interactions, and debug


Preferred Qualifications:

  • microarchitecture knowledge

  • x86 Silicon experience (CPU or SoC) is a plus

  • Validation and/or testing/debug, especially in processor design teams is a plus

  • Any prior experience in Si integration into SoC is a plus

  • Pre-Silicon or Post-Silicon debug experience

  • UNIX command-line tools

  • Platform architecture and operating system knowledge is a plus

  • Any prior experience in writing machine-readable specs is a plus

Work Model for this Role

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
