Job Description

The Silicon Photonics Quality and Reliability Engineer will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Develops, applies, and maintains quality and reliability standards for processing materials into partially finished or finished product.
  • Evaluate the materials, process and techniques used in production to meet the requirement of products and production equipment.
  • Specifies inspection and testing mechanism, conduct quality assessment (up to and including audits) and perform statistical analysis to determine the disposition of products and systems that do not meet required specifications.
  • Delivers standardization in product qualification, manufacturing quality systems and methods.
  • Provide feedback to the Business Unit, Technology Development and/or partner engineering group on design or method and statistical process control procedures including manufacturing systems in HVM.
  • Determines reliability requirements and automated screening methodologies of components and systems to achieve company, customer and any governmental agency reliability objectives.
  • Develops new acceleration techniques, analytical tools and quality screens to assure the early identification of potential problems with new products, packaging, processes, and product quality/reliability. Responds to customer requests or events as they occur.
  • Makes recommendations for changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process/product reliability.
  • Responsible for designing reliability qualification plans, executing reliability qualifications, performing data analysis, and failure analysis.
  • Works with teams to design appropriate reliability test structures and signs off on new silicon photonics masks.
  • Will work with teams on long-term product improvement or corrective action implementation as necessary.
  • Also responsible for writing / updating rel reports.


Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position.  Qualifications listed as preferred or additional will be considered a plus factor for applicants.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidate must possess at least one of the following:
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Physics, Optical Science or related technical field with 6+ years of relevant experience.
    • Master's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Physics, Optical Science with 3+ years of relevant experience.
    • Ph.D. in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Physics, Optical Science with 1+ year(s) of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in:
    • Qualifying optical module or system, test methods of performance and reliability (HTOL, THB/DH, MSV, TC, HTS, ESD etc.), and failure analysis.
    • Device/semiconductor physics and electrical characterization techniques and in areas pertaining to wafer fabrication.
    • Data extraction and analysis skills (JMP/ILM/REL/PCS/SQL Scripting)
    • QnR/Process/device/product engineering experience.
    • Design of Experiments (DOE) principles and structured problem solving.
    • SPC/DOE principles and data analysis.

  • 6+ months of semiconductor device fabrication.
