The embedded system development position(s) for this listing is as follows:

Validation FW Engineer Co-op

The Silicon Validation Hardware Team is responsible for design of electronic validation equipment. This is equipment is used to validate new ASICs, products and memory technologies

Key tasks include:

• Writing FW in C to support new or existing boards
• Writing code in Python to interface with board FW and creating a user interface
• Validating new or existing HW through creating scripts and use of electronic test equipment

In this work term the candidate will learn the about writing code, from low level FW drivers to Python APIs. The candidate will gain knowledge of the underlying electronics. The candidate will contribute to the creation of novel and proprietary test equipment.

Employees are encouraged to work remotely due to Covid-19, all new hire orientations will be done virtually. This is subject to change and employees deemed as essential workers may be required to work on-site.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Presently pursuing a degree in electrical engineering, computer science, engineering physics, or similar.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Programming experience with C or C++ in an embedded environment
• Knowledge of the Python Scripting language (or desire to learn)
• Knowledge of Verilog or VHDL (or the desire to learn)
• Knowledge of typical lab equipment: Oscilloscopes, Logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, power supplies, etc. (or the desire to learn)
• Knowledge of system hardware on an embedded system

The final job assignment will be based on available projects during the work term and on the skills and interests of the student. We encourage students with relevant work experience (other co-op terms, work experience) to apply.

Work Model for this Role
