Site Controls Engineer – Cleveland, TN
The Site Controls Engineer has a primary responsibility is to ensure delivery of, and provide support as the first point of contact for all Factory Controls & IT related Systems following applicable Global/Regional Standards. They will own the Strategy for Controls & IT Asset Health Check Program as well as facilitate/lead the implementation of Factory Controls & IT projects.
Responsibilities include leading and developing the Senior Controls Technicians and Controls Technicians. Additionally, the Controls Engineer directs the modification and installation of control systems; facilitates the transfer of knowledge of control systems and electrical projects; supports the maintaining of controls networks, web servers, data historian and operator interface systems.
Key concepts of the role include, but are not limited to, developing control concepts, program design, coding and implementation, instrumentation selection and operator interface development.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required; Electrical / Controls Engineering degree is preferred.
- Four (4)+ years of Factory Controls engineering experience in a comparable technical position in a manufacturing environment with experience in project execution and leadership.
- Ability to architect manufacturing control systems. Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, Siemens, Iconics and/or other major control systems technologies preferred. Experience with FactoryTalk, Wonderware, Modicon, and/or RSLogix5000 is a plus.
- Previous/current people leadership experience of technical associates
- Strong knowledge of control systems used in high speed manufacturing systems.
- Action oriented, results driven, collaborator and a strong leader
- Experience working in an environment focused on TPM systems
- Factory IT experience
What would be your key responsibilities?
- Provide leadership to the onsite controls team and act as the Controls liaison to the site and regional Engineering teams.
- Develop the controls talent pipeline of both direct and indirect reports.
- Owner of the Factory Controls & IT Infrastructure in assigned area
- Owner of the Automation Roadmap Strategy; Execute the controls Master Plan, bringing the controls infrastructure to the next generation.
- Establish and Monitor KPI’s related to Factory Controls & IT infrastructure, Services and Solutions to include Performance, Availability and Functionality Metrics
- Responsible for problem resolution for all Factory Controls & IT infrastructure
- Direct the work activities of outside contractors, controls technicians, and other associates with the installation of instrumentation, PLC based control systems, and PC based operator interfaces
