Job Description

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Site Lead, are to: 

 

  • Proactively seek and communicate broader business objectives and key messages to their site;
  • Provide and receive feedback for development of self and others (direct reports, peers, partner, people leader, etc.);
  • Ensure that critical conversations, coaching and development planning are happening at the site;
  • Champion cross-functional (Commercial, Product Supply, other Breeding) functions, etc., including regional and global inclusion and collaboration;
  • Recognize individual and team accomplishments;
  • Motivate and empower the team to take pride and ownership in their processes;
  • Drive continuous improvement and regularly share key findings and opportunities with other sites;
  • Facilitate a culture of change;
  • Deliver business objectives defined for the site;
  • Prioritize resources such as budget, labor, supplies, etc. to meet HSE (Health / Safety / Environment), Regulatory, and Corporate policy requirements for the site, to ensure Freedom to Operate (FTO);
  • Create a culture of safety, quality, and compliance;
  • Develop, track and keep team apprised of site and organizational Metrics;
  • Regulate and Stewardship responsibility for trial types under the hub’s responsibility;
  • Serve as a role model for others to follow, when complying with our Company's LIFE (Leadership, Integrity, Flexibility, Efficiency) principles and policies;
  • Manage and engage in the daily activities of the site’s operations;
  • Ensure that all site members are trained on standard work processes and tools and establish key contacts for accountability and follow-up;
  • Acquire and maintain facilities and equipment for effective and efficient functioning of all programs;
  • Drive the vision and goals for the site, to align with Bayer’s strategy;
  • Own and maintain contingency plans for the site;
  • Forecast and own all aspects of budgeting and capital alignment with the site’s long-term plan;
  • Identify and build a talent pipeline strategy for the site;
  • Ensure the site delivers on all community engagement objectives;
  • Actively involved with "Telling Our Story" (social media, community events, media, etc.), as well as acting as an ambassador for Bayer;
  • Actively build industry relations and participate in local agriculture groups;
  • Organize Community Advisory Panel (as applicable);
  • Maintain Government Relations and represent Bayer as knowledge/ industry expert in public forums (as applicable).

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values.  More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
 
Required Qualifications:

 

  • Ph.D. with at least four years’ relevant experience, or Master’s of Science with at least eight years’ relevant experience, or Bachelor’s of Science with at least ten years’ relevant experience;
  • Four years’ demonstrated people leadership experience with seasonal workers or full-time employees, or managing a team of employees through project management;
  • Strong decision-making, prioritization, and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong computer skills related to data acquisition, organization and analysis;
  • Demonstrated flexibility in an agile work environment;
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills;
  • Broad knowledge of crop production and farming practices;
  • Good working knowledge of research operations and ability to interpret/ interact with large sets of data;
  • Proven ability to help multiple stakeholders and advocate for/ understand modern agriculture;
  • Valid Driver’s License. Driving record (MVR) will be reviewed and must meet guidelines based on the company’s Risk Screening for Hiring Drivers;
  • Ability to lift up to 60lbs.
