We are seeking for a VOS Site Reliability Engineer who will be a part of a team to be responsible for supporting Harmonic VOS platform. 

VOS is Harmonic's next generation video delivery infrastructure operating in the clouds (AWS, GCP, Azure..etc) and on-premise environments. In this role you will work with a team of geographically diverse engineers to strive for high degrees of availability, performance, and capacity of VOS systems once deployed in the field.

The team has the responsibility to monitor, investigate and improve customer systems in the field to keep them running and healthy. Communication and co-ordination skills are essential in this position as you will work with multiple teams in multiple time zones, and need to collaborate very closely with other R&D team members, support and field staff. You will wear multiple hats to troubleshoot customer production issues, restore production services within the specified SLAs, validate customer scenarios and workflows before the critical bugs get fixed in production, develop scripts for the system recovery.

Basic Qualification

• Troubleshooting skills to identify root cause of issue and restoration action required across the application stack.
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
• Able to work on-call rotation for escalation purposes
• Working experience of the following will be a plus:
  • Site Reliability Engineer/DevOps engineer or equivalent customer support/solution engineering
  • Cloud-based Infrastructure – AWS, GCP and Azure
  • Experience in system operation and monitoring automation
  • Experience in customer communications related to production issues

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience applying SRE principles to novel problems and systems
• Experience analyzing and resolving performance, scalability and reliability issues
• Experience with audio and video technology domain like transcoding, MPTS/SPTS streaming, video packaging formats like HLS, DASH, SS
• Strong networking knowledge: TCP/IP, UDP, load balancing, HTTP/S, and REST
• Proficient in at least one or more software languages (Python, Javascript) with respect to designing, coding, testing , and software delivery
• Hands-on experience with debugging and optimizing code as well as automation 
• Experience with modern configuration management tools like Ansible
• Experience with Agile methodology, continuous integration and related tools like Jenkins, JIRA, Confluence
• BS/MS degree
• Candidate with 5+ years’ relevant experience and demonstrates strong technical skills may be considered as Senior Engineer.
