The Site Safety Representative/Manager will have experience with monitoring assigned construction sites in the NYC area and enforce compliance with government regulations, acts and standards. This individual must currently possess a New York City Department of Buildings Site Safety Manager License. Candidates without an active license will not be considered. This position is part-time flex, meaning that work schedule depends on business needs and will vary.

NYC DOB Supported Scaffold Erector / Dismantler Certification – 32 Hours (required)

NYC DOB Suspended Scaffold Certification – 32 Hours (required)

NYC DOB Site Safety Manager Certification – 40 Hours (required)

Supervisor SST Card – 62 Hours (required)

FDNY Construction Site Fire Safety Manager Certification (required)

NYC DOB Superintendent for Construction License (optional)

NYC DOB Concrete Safety Manager License (optional)

Certified Health and Safety Technician Certified (optional)

Certified Safety Professional Certified (optional)

OSHA Outreach Trainer for Construction Certified (optional)

NYS DOL Asbestos Inspector License (optional)

C-3 Supervisor / Competent Person Training for De-Leading (optional)

Essential Responsibilities

  • Duties as required by Chapter 33 of the 2014 NYC Building Code
  • Duties as required by Chapter 8 and Chapter 14 of the FDNY Code
  • Duties as required by 1926 OSHA Standards for Construction
  • Ensure compliance for the safety of site workers and general public
  • Develop safety kick-off presentations and conduct on-site orientations and pre-shift meetings
  • Conduct daily site safety inspections, safety assessments and safety audits
  • Investigate all accidents and complete all required paperwork
  • Conduct risk assessments
  • Make recommendations concerning the modification, improvement, or removal of any company equipment, facilities, or machinery that is hazardous to employee safety or health
  • Compile daily, weekly, and monthly reports as requested by management or customer
  • Serve as company liaison with Overseeing Municipalities, OSHA, Insurance carriers and other regulatory agencies
  • Maintain all safety related documentation

The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics:

  • Fluent in English, written and verbal
  • Ability to teach and train others on safety program
  • Ability to plan and implement projects
  • Ability to identify known potential exposures and recommending corrective action
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Minimum three (3) years of construction safety management experience
  • Working knowledge of construction safety principles, techniques and methods
  • Knowledge of OSHA-CFR 1926 “Construction Safety & Health”, the New York City Department of Buildings Construction Safety requirements, Chapter 33 and FDNY Code Chapter 14.
