My client is a market leading Italian casual dining restaurant chain with 150 restaurants in the UK and Ireland, serving quality Italian food and afforable prices in stylish environments and providing superior service to customers.

1. Implementation of China Social Media Strategy:

  • Lead and execute digital campaign in China to drive brand awareness and social presence and increase traffic / follower growth and customer engagement.
  • Work closely with the UK Marketing function and the local management team to plan the monthly content calendar across the best social media platforms in China (e.g. WeChat, Dianpiang), produce a weekly content schedule that brings to life 's brand narrative and personality and plan how each piece of content will be produced / sourced e.g. influencers, short videos, WeChat mini-programs.
  • Generate/ design innovative and compelling digitalised content to grow brand awareness and maximise social influence and customer engagement.
  • Identify on-brand influencers in social communities and build a community of influencers, brand advocates and other creatives from whom you will source and curate social media content.
  • Regularly monitor social media trends, market insights, explore new digital media platforms and tools and acquire competitor information, flagging opportunities and formulating plans with internal stakeholders. Constantly push creative boundaries in order to generate fresh content that connects with our audience in new ways.
  • Build and manage the community component of 's social media strategy across all relevant social media channels, including confidently creating and posting daily content (e.g. photos, videos and news), triggering conversations and interacting with followers, building honest, positive relationships with customers and engaging in social listening, all with the objective of improving brand awareness and serving product and business needs.

2. Management of China website - Ensure the China website is kept up-to-date with content and streamlined functionality. Leading new functionality projects with local website design firm and providing feedback and progress updates to internal stakeholders.

Regular review of competitors and brands outside hospitality - Explore the broader 'point of view' beyond hospitality in order to monitor what's trending on social media and the relevant topics of conversation and consumer insights should be reflecting in digital content e.g. street-art and events in Shanghai. Actively track digital content of competitor brands to assess market competition and identify opportunities to differentiate the brand from our competitors and to innovate. Working with our local agency test new ideas and evolve the social media strategy.

3. Deliver impactful social campaigns for new restaurant openings to ensure consumers have maximum awareness from day 1. Working closely with the Restaurant teams as the key marketing representative to develop and deliver digital marketing tools to drive awareness and foot traffic to new restaurants (PR, promotions, local social media activity, content creation and tactical partnerships). Review results 3 months post launch to ensure ROI achieved and take learnings forward into the next opening.

4. Day to day management of external agencies - Developing and maintaining close working relationships to ensure agency effectiveness.

5. Ownership of "earned" digital presence - Building rapport with key digital channels such as WeChat, Dianping, Weibo etc. and making sure they are up to date and aligned to brand and customer profiles from a social perspective.

6. Performance reporting and insight -Analyse performance of social content on a weekly basis and create actionable, operational reports for internal stakeholders which can be used to constantly evolve social media engagement and for future planning and innovation.

  • An individual with 3-4 years' digital, social media marketing experience, ideally in hospitality or retail industries
  • A social content and social technology expert, familiar with end-to-end social content creation process, including knowing which areas will require collaboration with peers and freelancers
  • Proven experience in growing and developing social media communities across key social media channels (specifically, Wechat as well as other platforms like Dianping and Weibo) and in initiating positive and supportive conversations inside the community around content, contests, events and opportunities that will be of interest to the community
  • Good social language and proven copywriting and editing skills. We'd love to see examples!
  • Able to understand the Zizzi brand and point of view, but also be able to apply your own creative flair and eye for detail to suggest fresh concepts
  • Demonstrated the ability to deliver against deadlines and budgets and keep up with the pace of the content generation required
  • An excellent communicator both in person and in written English and Mandarin
  • Important to be a positive, motivated person and self-starter
  • Great presentation skills Strong interpersonal skills and ability to impact and influence others
  • Proven ability to commercially analyse the impact of digital activity
  • Able to take direction and work collaboratively across different functions including local restaurant teams & the UK Marketing function
  • Strong interest in food and dining out preferable
  • Degree educated or equivalent
