Job Description

Modern car infotainment systems and ECUs have many external interfaces and a highly complex software stack. We, as automotive system engineers, work passionately to design a modern and secure system and identify and solve all kinds of cross-cutting platform issues.

  • As part of our versatile team, you will solve challenging problems to shape the future of automotive products and make new BMW products even better and more secure
  • You will design, implement, and configure features across multiple layers of BMW OS: from hardware and kernel to end-user applications with a focus on security.
  • Due to the high complexity of modern connected cars, you can apply your knowledge in complex system design, software architecture, application security and network security.
  • Helping to debug and solve platform-wide problems, supporting other teams in software development and integration, performing threat modeling and writing security-related system software are further key responsibilities.

 

What should you bring along?

  • University degree in computer science or a comparable field of study
  • Hands on experience in Linux or/and Android or/and system engineering and configuration.
  • Good understanding of security principles, latest techniques, and operating system features (for example, secure boot, disk encryption, integrity protection, kernel hardening).
  • Background with modern software development in one of the languages C++, Java, Kotlin as well as experience with Python as a universal tool.
  • Understanding of basic principles of threat modeling. Practical experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge about isolation techniques and containerization mechanisms is a plus.
  • Business-fluent English is required, German would be an advantage.
